PC Gamer Interviews Gabe, Erik and Doug from Valve

PC Gamer has released their interview Gabe, Erik and Doug over the recently discussed "three big announcements" as well as another article where the team explains 13 things that Valve has actually failed at. Remember the "fairy game?" Yes, Gabe and the rest of the team go over that as well.

PC Gamer: What was the flying fairy game?

Gabe Newell: It was a weird prototype game that had spells and was based on movement and mouse gestures. It was so bad, you wanted to ask yourself “How could we make a game that was this bad? And how should we make a game?” and we said, “We should focus on what we do really well, so why are we doing this game which was kind of a…” it wasn’t really an RPG, it was this weird…

Valve: Xbox Live 'such a train wreck'

You might ask yourself, "Why has Valve switched their console love towards the PS3 after so many hateful slanders?" The answer is quite simple my dear readers, because XBOX Live sucks.

"We thought that there would be something that would emerge, because we figured it was a sort of untenable... Oh yeah, we understand that these are the rules now, but it's such a train wreck that something will have to change.

Microsoft has refused to change the way developers update their games over Live, only allowing one (1!) free update or none at all. That is why every DLC Valve has released on the XBOX 360 has had a price tag attached to it while the PC versions get their updates for free. So Valve has found solace in Sony Online, which allows them to pump out update after update much like they do on the PC.

Dystopia 1.30 Release Date Announced

Dystopia 1.30's release date to the public has been announced.

1.30 is the team's next big update to Dystopia, which brings Dystopia over to the Orange Box engine, introduces many new particles and effects, and a new map "Fusion"! In the September 2010 news update, details about an upcoming hiatus to the Dystopia Supporter Program are mentioned, along with screenshots of new Map Path Trail particle effects for new players to know the quickest way to their objective, and eight screenshots of 1.30's upcoming map.
