If you go to babelfish and translate Nova Prospekt from German to Enlish, you get: new facts folder. Prospekt means folder.

That a computer translation. Wonder if it has any meaning, or maybe a proper human translation would mean anything.

Well, its just something interesting. I dont speak German, and if you've ever used an online translator before, you know that it can spit out wierd synonyms that don't really make sense, like instead of rolling hills, it could say spinning mountain. So maybe the name actually means something, since the translator recognises them as German words. Like, it could mean Revelation Box or something. It won't reveal anything as far as the story goes, but maybe a metaphor or something.

Nova ist no german word. It latin and means new.
prospect is also latin and comes from prospectum. It means something like "looking forward" (looking into the future).

Nova Prospect = A new look into the future

In Germany a Prospekt is something like a flyer, a few-pages advertisement for something you can buy soon.

its not a folder :D

a "prospekt" is a terrain were there are a lot of resources to be found, "nova" is obviously "new"

my opinion? A designer thought, "hmm, what's a cool name for a stage?" and eventually came up with Nova Prospekt. I wouldn't really read into it too much :P

Very true.

Nova Prospekt and the air exchange is a place where the troublesome city 17 civilians go, only to be turned into CP's or Combine Soldiers... or perhaps even stalkers; stripped away from all their humanity to serve as a citadel slave.

I think this is why the combine call Nova Prospekt; a look into the future.

This is why I like this game, so much subtlety it's amazing. The name of this place has EVERYTHING to do with the plot :8
