I just discovered a very talkative Vortigaunt. On entering Black Mesa East, get into the Scanning Chamber and then meet up with Dr Judith Mossman. She then unlocks a door and heads toward an elevator. Pass through that door, and look ahead of you. There is a wire-link fence with a tunnel behind it. Noclip through the fence and speak to the Vortigaunt there. "Use" him mulitple times and he will say different things. I've heard about 30+ phrases so far from him, with no repetitions. I'm not sure just how many things he says.

Erm. Actually, no. Cool pic, though. :):

The Vortigaunt's dialogue is quite interesting because it contains information on their slavery by Nihilanth among other things. I'll go listen to it again and see how much I can take down. Will try to come up with a transcript.

Here are some transcripts of what the Vortigaunt says. I will update this post as I figure out more of the phrases.

We remember the Freeman. We are coterminous.
There is no distance between us. No false veils of time or space may intervene.
We see you still in Black Mesa. Clearly we see you in the Nihilanth's chamber.
We bear witness to the bright eternity of the Nihilanth's demise. You leap, you fall. We see you flash beyond the barriers.
For a brief time you joined us. You are one between the worlds.
Communion of the vortessence, and that other. A deeper mystery, no deeper than the void itself.
We cannot forget those whose cords you cut. Forgiveness is not ours to bestow.
Unity of purpose, the shattering of common shackles, a single road we tread.
The song we sing, we shall sing for eternity, no matter the consequences of this struggle.
You have brought us grief and jubilation beyond the measure.
We have survived worse across the ages.
We are there still, in observance of your final struggle.
Our finest poet describes it thus, “Gallum ga gilli ga!”
While our own lay scattered at your feet, you severed the vortal cord that bound the Nihilanth to life and to us.
The sharp spur of hope has not dulled to this day. For once the lesser master lay defeated, we knew the greater must also fall in time.
This is more than anyone can bear, but we will persevere.
With you beside us, the talisman of victory, the day of freedom draws nigh.
Where to now, and to what end?
Your bright face obscures your darker mask.
We call you Sib, although your mind and meaning are a mystery to us.
We have lost all dear to us.
Far-distant eyes look out through yours.
We shall prevail.
Something secret steers us both. We shall not name it.
We have endured these chafing bonds for eons, yet a single moment of further servitude seems intolerable.
How often have we slipped our yoke, only to find it choking us again?
Let this war end in total victory or our extinction.
No further compromise shall we allow.
We take our stand beside you, here upon this miserable rock.
The way ahead is dark, for the moment.
What seems to you a sacrifice is merely to us, an oscillation. We do not fear the interval of darkness.
We are a tapestry woven of vortessence. It is the same for you, if only you would see it.
How many are there in you? Whose hopes and dreams do you encompass?
Could you but see the eyes inside your own; the minds in your mind, you would see how much we share.
We are you, Freeman, and you are us.
Our life is worthless, unless spent on freedom.

Well, that's most of them, I think. It's amazing what Valve put into the game. I mean, seriously, most people wouldn't ever have the chance to hear all these lines of dialogue unless they went exploring beyond the normal bounds of the level. I think that the contents are highly interesting as well. They offer us a glimpse into some of the details behind the real story of Half-life.

The Vortigaunt who mounts the gun on your boat also says all of those sentences. So does the Vortigaunt who is in the secret cave near the area where you have to shoot down the super-helicopter (the one that rains down hundreds of mines).

hmm reminds me of the speculations about the g-man being related to gordon. One speculation was intresting, i think from the prima guide, talking about the g-man being an older self of gordon, and has come back in time.Still, this phrase does hint something about the mystery between gordon and the g-man.we'll just have to wait for hl3.

I found this quote the most interesting. What does he mean by a darker mask? Is Freeman not all he appears to be?

No, he beats orphans, rapes hobos, and sets the Red Cross Santas aflame.

He's referring to the fact that Gordon looks like a peaceful man but has slayed thousands of both their kind, the Xen creatures, and the Combine.
