Hey y'all, I've been reading these forums for a while now [only just registered though, lol],
anyways, i wanted people to come up with some theories on where HL2 takes place.

I mean, I know it takes place in eastern europe but what country do you think it would take place in>?

I looked for some possible indicators and came up with a few things..... first I saw a sign in the trainstation bink video that was in german [it said "NOVA PROSPEKT"] so i figured which countries over there have german as one of the more spoken languages.

Then I figured it had to be next to some large body of water [from seeing these bink videos with a coastline].

And third I looked at the archetecture of what citys I had left to choose from.

Overall I came up with Romania which has part of it bordered on the black sea, and alot of the archetecture looks very similar to city 17 [I saw one picture where a set of pillars on the front of a building even looked almost identical to ones I saw in a HL2 video] and of course I found out that there's a large portion of german speaking folk there, or at least enough to be noticable.

So that's what I came up with....[and if you say I had too much time on my hands, it's cause I wasn't too keen on homework this afternoon...]

does anyone agree with me, or maybe have any other ideas?
I mean I suppose they might not have singled out a specific country to put it in, but remember they did put black mesa specifically in new mexico....

First of all: LMFAO at your avatar. I havent seen that pic yet.

And yea, I always thought of it to be in Germany because of that prospekt thing that you mentioned and Germany does border the water. Another place it could be is Poland. I dont know why but I think of Poland for some reason when I look at HL2 screens. But most likely it is an entirely fictional place.

Yeah I also thought it might be Germany....the only reason I wanted to say romania more was cause of the archetechture....but you know. I'm not that sure. lol.

I remember reading somewhere that someone found out that HL2 takes place in Washington, I remember this because valve are located in Seattle which is also in Washington.

I live in Washington (about an hour away from Valve) and believe me, City-17 looks NOTHING like Washington...Though S.T.A.L.K.E.R looks like it's in Washington (I know it's in Ukraine)

That's what I was thinking, so that's why I asked.
