listening to the sound clips under nihilanth in the pak file i think that it reveals alot about the gman.

here is a list of what i think it could mean:
  • it says you are man he is not, is it talking about the gman?
  • it says that you will all die - (all humans?)
  • it also says that 'you will be the last' -(the last human to die?)
  • but it also says 'comes another
iplease post your thoughts on these and other clips.
i would also like to know what map these are heard in and what creature this is from, ty.

Alone...let you alone...let you alone.

This is heard at the start of the factory levels, indicating the Alien Slaves not attacking you.

Comes another.

Another one will come. What exactly remains to be seen (incidentally, I always thought it said: 'Comes...the lover'...not then :phew)

Deceive you...will deceive you.

Probably refers to the G-Man, and that what he says isn't what he means.

Die...you all die...you all die.

Nihilanth puts on a threatening attitude.

Done...what have you done...

Freeman sure makes a mess on Xen, and this is Nihilanth's response.

Freeeeeeeeeeeman!

Nihilanth calls out to you.

The last...you are the last...you are.

Perhaps Nihilanth means to say Freeman is the last thing standing between Earth and total destruction?

You are man...he is not man...for you he waits...for you.

Nihilanth says you are a man, and 'he' is not (refers to G-Man). G-Man waits for Freeman to take out Nihilanth before he steps in.

Now die...now die...now.

Again, Nihilanth threatens Freeman.

Their slaves...we are their slaves...we are.

Now this is interesting. This would indicate that the entire Xen race has been enslaved by a superior collective. Perhaps the Combine?

The last...I am the last.

Nihilanth says he is the last one that remains. Maybe he indicates that there exists more than one Nihilanth, but they've all been wiped out by the superior race (Combine?), and he is the last one. Or it could mean Freeman's at the end of his 'mission', and Nihilanth is his final goal.

The truth...you can never know the truth.

Freeman does what he does, but is kept in the dark by the G-Man. He is oblivious to the bigger picture.

Thieves...you all are thieves...you all are.

Nihilanth accuses the survey groups sent to Xen (and thus, humanity) of stealing resources and materials to be tested upon in Black Mesa.

Win...you cannot win.

Another threat.

Their slaves...we are their slaves...we are.
If you notice, The ninilanth has slave arm bands on his wrists. He was probably enslaved so that whoever enslaved him (probably combine) could control all of the alien controlers and ninilanth himself. Also, they enslaved the vortigaunts. Since vortigaunts and alien controlers were the only "inteligent" xen beings thats what they only needed to enslave. Which is why houndeyes, and other xen creatures didnt have arm bands.

You are man...he is not man...for you he waits...for you.
Obviously talking about you and Gman. This might be implying that Gman isnt a man at all.... hmmmm.....

Why does everyone think he is talking about G-man? Maybe he is talking about someone you have never met before?

Did you guys know that "The administrator" is mentioned in HL1? Is the administrator the guy on those big screens in the train station and on the tv's? You know who I mean?

This topic has got me thinking. Since you guys think that the combine were ruling xen (im not making any assumptions) maybe that's why the Vortignaugts (sp? Lightning dudes) are working with the humans?

POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T FINISHED HALF-LIFE

When I replayed through the game a few months ago, I noticed (in addition to the slave wrist bands) that Nihilanth has metal coming out of the bottom of him.

Kinda reminds me of the black metal that the combine is using to eat away at City 17. Maybe they already controlled him and just needed someone like Freeman to kill him and open the door to reaching our Universe. It's obvious from the first fifteen minutes of the game that the Xen aliens appearing at Black Mesa was staged by someone who would benefit from it happening.

the way i see it, Nihilanth ( and his entire race for that part) are just a tool of the G-man, but only nihilanth is aware of this.
There are a couple of other observations about nihilanth that may hold some meaning. He looks remarkably similar to an alien controller, with the split open brain, yoga action and wierd third arm graspy thingy on his chest.
i also noticed that he seems to have stitches down his belly, like frankenstien or something. Which is wierd.

an observation on Xen social structure in general: The alien controllers seem to be the brains behind the race, the equivalent of humans on ours. Xen has many indigenous 'animals' without any real particular thought, one of which was probably the alien slave. because of their manual dexterity they were probably utilized by the controllers by putting those collars and stuff on them, and exerting a limited mind control on them. Alien grunts are produced in factories, and judging from their physical similarities to alien slaves, they are a genetically modified and beefed up version.

God knows where the Nihilanth comes in all this. perhaps he is an artificial construct designed to control the xen controllers, to the benefit of the G-man or his employers. Nihilanth has probably been around for a long time, and has become sentient (more than sentient i think), and has acquired an emotional attachment to his race.

Whatever the origin, though, it is clear to me that the Nihilanth was only a pawn.

btw, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the combine. i can guarantee you that.

I think G-Man is the adminstrator.

And if I recall correctly in other lighting the metal hanging off of Nihilanth is copper colored.

Nihilanth is a giant controller causing the disturbance in the two worlds of Earth and Xen. That is why you must kill him.

Before the incident he was probobly no different than the other controllers. That is my theroy anyway.

Also, I wonder what the "Boarder world" is a boarder to? Perhaps there are paralel universes. What if the other HEV people are also Gordon Freeman and not explorers form the Earth. Perhaps thats why "He is the last." I doubt this one. But it is a thought.
