This is not true, but, a motherboard cannot support all types of processors and speeds. For example if you have a motherboard that can handle 1.2ghz-2.0 ghz intel pentium 4 processors, and you want a 2.4, then yes you will have to buy a new motherboard that supports the speed of your processor.

The only hard part is putting on the heatsink/fan. You have to mash that thing on there like no other. I use a regular screwdriver to help snap it into place.
You motherboard has limitation to what the processor specs can be. Front Side Bus, Core Clock and you might need to get a better mobo if you processor is not compatible with your current mobo.

I may not need to buy another mobo, and would like to avoid doing so if possible.
So how do I see what it can support now?
