Just remember it must be the alpha version of ffdshow.

personally, id rather have them release the game with absolutly no compression on any files, seeing as i have about 60 gb of free space, that way everything would load faster. *thinks of doom3 tweak*

The FFDSHOW Alpha fix worked perfectly for me even after turning on High quality Textures and sound...

Thanks much!

ffdshow fixed it for me too...thats the weirdest fix thats worked...i still get that auto-save stutter but i can live with that for now i guess. there needs to be a way to disable that nonsense...

so, how can u disable the autosaves ? i really dont need them because im a quicksaver, so they're nothing but annoying. there's a console command named sv_autosave, but if you set it to 0 nothing changes, the game still autosaves.

Try putting it in the autoexec.cfg file (need to create it in the same folder as config.cfg)

that did not work. that command seems to be completely useless.

.GCF (Steam) are uncompressed, they are like "folders in a file" no performance can be gained by taking them out of the .GCF's.

.PAK (Doom3) are compressed, they are like "folders in a file" performance can be gained by taking them out of the .PAK's.

Well, I know this has been a big debate, but if I were to get a new video card should I get:

GeForce 6 series? or Radeon 9800 sieries?

basicly ATI or Nvidia, which card would run the DirectX9 better?

Gosh. The Direct X friendly card is ATI. But, the 6800 GT had a 2% performance gain over the x800 pro. I love my 6800 Gt. :smile

So it must be the alpha? And do you only install the "DirectShow Filter" ?

Could someone walk me through what to check and uncheck when it asks you what components to install. I want it right the first time. should i leave everything as it is and just hit next?
