from wat ive heard out of most windows i thnk 2000 but in my opinion id choose xp pro

Me use Win XP home, with all the updates and stuff

I'f you're short on ram 2000, if u r not XP pro, but that said 2000 alows you to run games at whatever refresh rate you want (or whatever your monitor can handle) at whatever resolution, Win Xp forces 60hz in games if your game resolution is different to your desktop resolution

Newest version, that is in the beta stages is, Windows Longhorn (coming out in 2005 i think) (unavailabe at this time)

Service pack 2 is the latest service pack to be released. Has a nice pop up blocker and firewall with it.

i have xp home its pretty nice honestly i dont care about operating systems as long as i can play videogames on it and its up to date its all good

Hi,

I suggest you don't even consider buying Windows ME (very bad OS). Just stick with windows Pro or Home (I'm using Pro, I think that one's better).

The "latest" version of windows WILL BE Windows XP Service Pack 2 (which has been delayed a bit....).

Btw, Windows Longhorn will not come out in 2005. They're expecting to release it in 2006 or 2007.
