XP Pro is great, its almost unheard of crashing, i bet my computer has only crashed 3-4 times since ive gotten XP and that was somthing major.

dont forget to get a fire wall like zone alarm pro before all thouse new viruses try to exploit your computer.

Yes i do agree, Linux is amazing but thats not part of the discussion.

from what i understand that windows 2000 is a stripped down version of xp.

it was perfect for my old labtop since its only about 450mhz or so, it was a good tradeoff for xp which was incompatible for the old labtop. it has never crahed ever since the reformatting, ive been using it to make maps for cs and ns.

really ive found NOTHING to complain about windows 2000 yet.

still if your looking for great gaming i would suggest win xp pro for any other reason GET KNOPPIX!!!! :8

How can you call windows 2000 a stripped down version of windows XP if windows 2000 was out before XP?
Wow don't claim things if you don't know what your speaking about. Windows 2000 is the merging of NT 4 and windows 9x. Thus is has features from both types of windows and is much better in terms of networking options than Windows XP or 9x series will ever be. I currently have windows 2000 Pro service pack 4 and is probably the most stable version of windows so far. As it benefits of all the years of progress with 9x series and NT.

Windows XP is so full of holes that I could access the main hardware in a server from logging into a computer, on the same network as the server, that is highly restricted in 3 seconds. Even thou the main harddrive is set as hidden from this restricted user account. Heck could even format all the drives even without access to the control panel, any keyboard commands, commad promt, windows directory or even right click.

Windows XP, sucks *******.

depends on what version of xp and how u configured it. if you're talking about accessing your dads comp from urs, all power to ya cuz i dont know a decent computer user who can't. the very earliest versions of winxp sucked the biggest balls in the history of computing, but i really admire the service packs windows put out. they've really balanced it out, cuz if anybody else used the very earliest versions of xp i did, you'd understand. i lost 3 very good hard drives to them

I'm talking about my College's computer servers that has over 600 computers in the network, with a 2Mbit internet connection. Funny thing thou to do it required just the basic computer knowledge, I never did any damage but I told loads of people how to do it... well I've finnished my courses at that place so they can do what ever damage. Not my fault its so easy to bypass stuff like that in XP...

Running Win 2000 Professional, SP 4. Compared to experiences with XP, ME, and 98, Win 2000 is far more stable.

Yes xp came out later but win 2000 is somewhat related to win xp but with many less options or current developements

the linux crowd needs to back off, yes linux is better but its not going to run HL2 right? linux is good but sux for gaming like macantosh.

That's why you use a dual booting process and run two Operating systems at a time, and partition your harddrives in favor of Windows for the upcoming game releases. :phew
