A few days ago i was very disappointed to hear that the physgun (as we knew it form the E3 videos) was not included in the final release of HL2. So, in an attempt to find out more about it, and also to see if we could get it back, i sent a PM as well as email to Gabe Newell. After some more thinking on the subject i realised that the chances of hearing back from Gabe were pretty slim, so i decided to explore other rungs in the ladder, and go for a guy i thought would know best about it. So i headed over to the Valve website and started looking for the weapons modeler for HL2...however it doesnt actually list who models what... just general bios for everyone. So i made an educated guess, and went with Aaron Barber. So i sent him an email which contained the following content:

Subject: No more physgun? :(
Sorry if im being bothersome... but i ws just curious if we will ever
wind up seeing the blue-beamed physgun we saw in the E3 demos... i
know a lot of people in the forum i frequent have been discussing how
they wanted to play with this physics gun, only to find that it was
scrapped from the final release. Any chance we might see it make a
comeback as a dev command?
Cmon! you know you guys still got it kickin around the office!

Afterward, Aaron was so nice, he actually forwarded it to Jay Stelly, the lead programmer for HL2, and got the following response, which he then forwarded to me:
