are you talking about 'media hype' - commericals, ads in magazines, or are you talking about 'inimate hype' - on BBS and other intangible mediums? If it's media hype then No, if Inimate hype then Yes.

i say underhyped becasue the only news I got for Hl2 was this site, but I could go to ANY site and get news on GTA:SA, Halo2, and many other games, but only on this site did I ever get news on Hl2. I didn't even get any new up-to-date news from PlanetHalfLife, this site always had it before them.

The game was not the least bit overhyped by Valve- all the hype came from us fans. The only missed expectations were the ones we made up on our own.

Mainly Media hype i suppose as fan hype wouldnt have mattered so much if there was more media hype but, watever

There was almost no hype from media such as TV or advertising. Almost all the hype came from the hands and even then, a lot of people were still surprised by the game :)

The game has it's downfalls but I never did expect it to be perfect. I would have to say it was slightly underhyped :)

I'm going to say neither because it was everything I thought it would be. Nothing more, nothing less.

Underhyped. If you say half life 2 to some kid they ask what that is. You say "halo" and they immediately know what it is.

Most definately. It was everything I was hoping it to be. Can't wait for Half Life 3 :):

The game surpassed my expectations, so I wouldn't call it overhyped.

It is unbelievable. Half-Life 2 is just..too good. And yes, I defianetly agree with WorfoSAUR. Here in my town, I go, "HALF-LIFE 2 IS AWESOME!" and they go, "Uhh, what?"

I mention Halo 2 and they give me the fanfic they wrote.
