He is established though! In HL2 he was established as a mysterious character that doesn't speak much but is an undeniable asset to the humans. It just seems like such a change and very hard for me to accept. I'll get used to it but I wont like it.

As in it's a different vortigaunt. I assume you know I meant that, it's hard to tell all those tubes away. I keep making the same point, so I'll stop.

What I want to know though is why vortigaunts can't climb ladders... and how does spamming energy into an electric motor make it go?

Heh, that ladder thingy bugged me too, when I came up to the ladder while being followed by the vort, I thought "oh, I bet VALVe were lazy again and didn't make a ladder climbing animation for the vortigaunt." but I was half-hoping to see him climb, only to be predictably dissapointed.

the energy spamming in to the generators kinda make sense, and it was a nice touch the 1st time...but it became very stale when there were so many of those vortigaunt-only activable gates.

It always gets me thinking... there's only one way to go, right, so what if one generator fails to start? Then what? The Earth is doomed to slavery and destruction? I guess there's nothing you can do about it, but I'm the kind of person who likes to see what ridiculous magnitude he can expand a simple game restriction to.

I can't see why you like it. The older voice had a longer experience in the Half-Life 2 series and it sounded partially better. Lou Gosset Jr.'s voice was more raspy and non-human.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean - in Episode 2 it sounded too human. But it doesn't bother me too much. I suppose it shows a progression from Half-Life 2, since some vortigaunts must hang around with humans a lot more and can pick up the language quicker and more efficiently. And it also shows variety, since not all vortigaunts would sound the same. Tony Todd (who did the voices) is an absolute legend though, I thought he did a good job on them.

Longer experience? As I recall in EP 1 he said nothing except the chanting.
Besides they were looking for a different voice to fit his more involved role. I liked Gosset's voice quite a lot, but I can't say I don't like this new one.

So all the vortigaunts are the same now? Besides him turning into an ally is a big change compared to HL, but I haven't heard many poeple complaining about that.
Another thing is, that having one with you and having him hardly speak, well that gets boring. You'll get the feeling he's just another NPC, like the rebels and won't connect with him that much. If Grigs and Sheckley had just been two standard rebels, you would have discarded them easily.
Besides a more talkative vort means more insights into their culture.
And I thought people were eager to get more info on the HL-universe? On one hand people want to know more about the G-Man, but the Vortigaunts have to remain mysterious.

Blah blah blah

Doesn't matter what you say because I just don't like the new vort voice actor. I gave him a chance and I still don't like it. If you don't like the fact that I don't like him then ignore my posts in this thread.
