i own probably 200 firearms, from ak47's to m4's all the way to every wwII rifle issued... i love shooting, and do it for sport... (the reason i own so many is htat my step father is the host of shooting usa, formerly the host of american shooer... anyways, thos of you who think guns are pointless, are close minded and unwilling to open your thoughts. why do you ar wether or not people hunt for sport or food? where i love, 1/2 the people i know hunt, mostly for food.. not because they cant afford it from the stores, but because they like it more than storebought food...

and shooting for spor, there is NO pblem there... if you say that giving a weapon to someone means they can just happen to kill someone is true, but more often than not, if they legally own the gun, they arent gonna kil any1 with it.

honestly i hate people like you, becuase ur so close minded.... and those of you who think guns cause war, are the SUPIDEST PEOPLE ALIVE... what did we do before we had guns? swords, sticks & stones, fists..... cmon...

anyways, i reccomend a .22 for starters, or something like that. thats what most people start with... but my fav is the ak47.. :) wewt getting a new uzi soon.

So guns can be used to hunt for food?

They can also be used for sport?

Perhaps you are being closed minded in that you don't realize that guns are most frequently used to kill people. You are right that we killed people before we had guns, but does that make the murder any more right now than it was then?

So you hate those who don't agree with you because as you put it they are the:

eh? Good one, pal.

The issue is that many more people die from guns in a year in America than do Buck, Doe, Buffalo, Elk, or any other game meat you can think of. You seem not to care in light of your sports and hunting, but I guarantee that lives mean more than that. You should wake up.

I agree with Biohazzard56, if you're getting into shooting- buy a used firearm. Brand new guns cost an arm and a leg.

not once did i say murder is more right now than before.. i simply said that "if you think if we take away guns then here will be no war, then you really are one of the stupidest people alive.. because we fought without guns before..." and there are many people who thin that guns make war... i dont hate them because they dont agree with me.. i hate them because they cant face the truth.. but thats a debate for another time...

and when you say i am being close minded because i dont realze that "guns are most frequently used to kill people" then you are stupid.. on any given day i can go to he local shootig rangs and find 100 to 300 people on weekends.. and this is in the middle of nowhere.. now multiply this across the united states and tell me that combining all the sport shooters and hunters is still not up the the death rate caused by firearms....

and i would take the lives of humans over animals anyday... we are more important.. thats not the issue...

I really didn't want to get involved in a debate on this, so I wont.

As far as I'm concerned, you don't even appriciate the original *and still legitimate* reason for the second amendment.

And yes, I believe that the sum of adding all of the game meat corpses shot by hunters in America would not even be close to the amount of Americans shot and killed by guns in a year. You'd know more about hunting seasons than I, so you can probably imagine why this is the case.

What? Are you insane or just inarticulate? No wait - forget I asked. I have things to do and I don't want you waiting for a reply that won't come.

im shure that poeple who own guns target practice ALOT more then they hunt. what about the number of targets shot to the number of people killed by guns. if guns were banned, there would still be a huge black market of them.

If you wanted to kill somebody, you could use a gun, knife, ipod, or good ol' fashioned toothbrushes.

No matter what you limit, people are gonna get murdered. Plain & simple. The point is, its immoral to facilitate murder, but you have to accept SOME casualties. In the same way, you have to accept .08 BAC being the limit. Sure, there'll still be casualties, but much less.

What about the case for switching to alternate non lethal weapons to replace guns? If it was possible that such a weapon existed that would immediatly stop any intruder, inmobilize hunting game or paralize enemies, would you choose to own such a weapon instead of a gun?

What about guns with the option for a fingerprint registration to work? (ala Judge dread)

I am not suggesting prohibiting guns, but IF that option existed would you prefer it instead of a normal gun?

I don't see the point in the average joe owning guns.

Target practise. Hunting. Self-defense.

I stand by my statement.

hmm

i agree with w-ninja.

how can you stand by your statement after what he just pointed out?

its like banning a tennis racket.

im sure i could kill you with one if i wanted, but its mainly used for tennis.

just like a gun, which is mainly used for target practice / hunting.

the only reason people think guns are horrible is because of the media.

yes.. the problems of today ALL somehow trickle back to the effing media.

EDIT: but yea, to remain on the topic, which has been hijacked by anti gun kids who obviously cant stand anyone with a different opinion, i have quite a few guns. (well, there not mine yet, there my fathers) 1 carbine, 3 rifles (1 yugo SKS, and 2 chinese), a mossberg 12 guage shotgun, and a bunch of .22's.

thats about 10 guns.

i havent seen any of em rob, kill, rape, defile, murder, bash, wound, hurt, molest or trample any people yet. ill inform you guys when they do.

Are you f*cking stupid?  you said in response to Dee("I don't see the point in the average joe owning guns.") that Target practise HUNTING and Self-defense are the reasons for the average joe to own a gun. the average joe doesn't hunt for food, he goes to the store buys a steak and calls it a day.

my uncle hunts dear and eats their meat, i tried some when we went camping, it was good. of course he doesn't just eat stuff he hunts, he buys food at the super market too.

But tell me, does your uncle hunt for the fun of it or because he is desperate for food?

i cant believe you guys.

i have some friends who dont buy ANY meat from super markets.

they hunt for a living, and yes they live in America.

If i could have it my way, i'd like to revert back to hunting, and completely eliminate super markets.

if you guys have ever seen the slaughter houses..

the breeding animals just to completely annihilate them, cut em into a bunch of servings, shrink wrap em, and sell them to the softy human who cant even fend for himself.

its discusting.

EDIT: sheesh i thought the thread was moving faster, my mistake on the DP

EDIT EDIT:
" Perhaps you are being closed minded in that you don't realize that guns are most frequently used to kill people."

holy crap weve got an imbecile.

guns are not, in ANY stretch of the imagination used most frequently for killing people. get out of your house, stop watching the effing media, and you might just learn a thing or to.

most of you guys are screaming your lungs out that people dont hunt anymore.

while that is morbidly wrong, i do understand where your comming from, for the vast majority of people dont hunt anymore. but what your big mouths seemed to have skipped over is target practice.

i go out to my range and shoot probably once a week, as do MANY other people. i have never hunted nor shot anyone, but ive spent WELL over a few thousand rounds at the range. (and i know people who fire over that much every time they go, and thats per person. meaning 1 person, shooting a thousand rounds x how ever many people shoot that much per DAY is lower then the amount of people killed per day? some how i find that incredibly hard to believe.

the amount of people killed by guns (excluding war, because thats just stupid to include) cant even be compared to the amount used at a range.

its pure madness to compare the two. this is such ignorance. such blind ignorance

christ.
