What if gmans name is...
NOT ACTUALLY IMPORTANT?
I mean, yeah he's a secretive bad ******* lunatic, but does it matter what his full name is? What does having a real name for him add to the game? NOTHING! It serves no purpose knowing his full name, address and telephone number...

he is only called g-man by everyone here because in Half-Life, the entity to spawn him was called........... drum roll........... monster_gman!!!!!!! omg!!!!!
there was also a monster_furniture used to spawn objects, but you dont see people making a huge fuss out of that now do you? (probably because misc objects aren't key characters in the story :P )

Gman isn't his real name, it was a name given to him by the gaming community when they found his model in the HL1:DM model selector, or in the files to be precise as Capt. Maxx said above.
The real name of the Gman/Identity ought to be revealed in the new episodes, or most possibly the last Half-life title.

I didn't say it was his name, I asked why it would be even slightly important to know his real name
