So i sent my ipod through the washer machine by accident. I opened it and cleaned out all the crap that got in it with some rubbing alcohol and cutips and plugged it in for charging. It turns on for a couple seconds, but then it goes right off. I'm think its the battery that's effed up, and everything else seems to be ok. I made sure it was dry before i even plugged it in so i couldnt have shorted out anything.

Should i get a new battery?

Prob in his pocket, but any way is it still under warranty? If so send it in, other wise i'd say your *******ed, or you need another battery. But heh, those arent cheap.

Opening it up voids the warranty, so that's one avenue closed. You can do Apple's recycle program; switch your third gen in and get a pretty good discount on a new fourth gen.

warranty won't cover it, and sending it torhugh the wash kills warranty anyway.

Did you wait until it was absolutely without any doubt drier than a prune stuck under your bed sheets for three years?

seriously, i cant stress enough how important it is to wait as long as you think it should take, then another week and a half before even attempting to power it back on.

i had a nearly empty bowl of salsa hit overturned (ofcourse) on my computer afew days after i got it (still had the sides and top off it because i was still working with it to make sure i had everything connected right)

it instantly turned off.

I figured i shorted **** out, and pretty much ****ed up everything there was in my computer.

salsa on the ram, on the hard drive, on the video card and on the mobo (ofcourse). cleaned it the best i could, then got some of that air in a can stuff, and made it look spotless, then turned it on its side and let it dry for 2 weeks.

plugged it back in and.. it works, and has worked for a year and a half or so now without a problem, despite it being on when wet substance hit it. sooo just dont EVER turn or power on electronics if theres even the SMALLEST chance it could be somewhat damp.

i havent touched my ipod in a year since it happened so i kno its dry from the wash, but i also waited a couple of days after i cleaned it out with alcohol. Then i got my air compresor and ran air through it for 10 min im pretty sure it was dry

what is apple's recycle program? can someone show me the site?
