TBH, I didn't even know you can PM people with GameFaqs. No, I'm not (closely) related to Avril, although shes from the same province from me, I think were like 7th cousins or something.

why would gabe be on gamefaqs?

Thats what confuses me the most. I saw a e-mail from Gabe this morning and it was like "holy crap in this e-mail its gonna say what the MP is like" but it turned out being stuff talking about a GF PM when I never sent a PM from GF (If you can).

To me, the new Version 4 is even more buggier than Version 3.

Here you go. Yes I am at my friends, he wanted to play SOF2, I didn't know there was a site that hosted that easy. Can someone verify if this is fake?

EDIT: It stretched the board layout.

Just post the email headers - if the address the email originated from is a VALVe address then its legit.

I'm just curious, but has someone actually tried to e-mail Gabe to see what he says about the e-mail/PM/whatever the hell it is? I know it may be a while before a reply comes, but it would probably clear things up. Then we can all shut up about if it's real or not. I'm planning on e-mailing him to see what his take is on it. But really, the theories about someone hacking Gabe's e-mail, and the other stupid theories are a little pathetic, in my own opinion. Anyway, I'll post his reply, IF I get one.

Well, we already know that

1) CS: Source will be released with Halflife 2 (as in the same package in stores).
2) CS: Source is not completely bug-free yet because we keep getting updates to the Beta.
3) It is unlikely Valve will release the game until they are certain they have removed all of the bugs they know about.

Based on the points above, it doesn't take a genius to conclude the Halflife 2 won't go gold until CS:Source is bug-free. So why does it matter if the "Gabe's email" is fake or not??? Fake or not, the email doesn't tell us anything we can't figure out already...

I have no doubt that you received the e-mail... it's just clearly not from Gabe. You won't be able to do much about checking that in Hotmail though.

i just think we've had a strange series of events

1) steam bandwith gets jacked up
2) strange messages on planethalflife's geiger counter (first the countdown is on, then changed to move along citizen, nothing to see here)
3) on overstock.com, hl2 can seemingly be purchased for overnight delivery (although that has been nearly proved false)
4) these emails to people confirming that hl2 is done

perhabs something big is happening, perhabs not. time wil tell.

If I received the email in hotmail, I could tell you exactly where it came from and the IP address of the sender.

Something is happening -- Valve is preparing for HL2 going gold and a huge release.

But as Valve have pointed out, all these e-mails/forum posts are fake. They'll have a fun time shipping HL2 overnight when it's not finished yet.
