I was just listening to the menu music from Left 4 Dead 2, the one from Hard Rain. (4:52)
I was reminded off it because a few days ago I heard Seasick Steve, who is pretty awesome, makes his own guitars with a very unique sound..

That's a pretty cool song, shampoo, but that sound is really not unique.
You do understand that the entire concept of L4D2's soundscape is to be typical of the southern USA, right? With an ominous zombie apocalypse twist, of course.

I like the early teaser version better though, it was more "clear", now you can't really hear the beautiful piano at 4:03 which really dominates the song in the early version.

Thank you for reminding me to download the whole OST Sly_Ry! :8

Sure thing, you're welcome :8

I remember hearing that early stuff years ago! Yesterday I heard a tune in a film soundtrack that somehow reminded me of Neo Tokyo...so I looked on Youtube and sure enough the whole soundtrack was there. Tracks I never heard before. It's awesome. The ones I did hear ages ago all sounded somewhat different from what I remember- remastered or something.

:blush

Don't be scared of the name. 720p is a must. I wouldn't consider this dubstep- not sure why they would think it is. whatever.

Also, regarding dubstep, dubstep is like disco. In five years, I guarantee we'll look back and say "what in the hell were we thinking?"

I'll go ahead and post my top 10 of 2011 then. :)

1. Northlane – Discoveries
2. Born of Osiris – The Discovery
3. Corelia – Nostalgia
4. Hands – Give Me Rest
5. Animals as Leaders – Weightless
6. Mastodon – The Hunter
7. Trivium – In Waves
8. The Human Abstract – Digital Veil
9. Sylosis – Edge of the Earth
10. The Famine – The Architects of Guilt

Pretty difficult to condense the list to only 10 as there have been some stellar releases this year (with the new EP by The Empire Shall Fall still to come at the end of December). And to think I still have to listen to a number of releases such as the ones from Opeth, Machine Head and The Black Dahlia Murder... We are a spoiled bunch!

Honourable mentions:

1. Uneven Structure – Februus (Have to listen to it some more to fully appreciate it.)
2. Vildhjarta – Masstaden (As the album progresses the soundscape remains the same for the most part, a shame really because there is room for so much potential and a few tracks are a testament to that.)
3. Insomnium – One for Sorrow (I wish this was a top 11 as this record, while not been giving this all the love it deserves, is just superb.)
4. Molotov Solution – Insurection (A record to get down on and **** shit up. Quite a ride but ultimately not worthy of my top 10.)
5. Volumes – Via (HAven’t been listening to it as much as I’d like but from what I’ve heard there are a few tracks on there worth my time… the others not so much.)
6. Protest the Hero – Scurrilous (The previous records set the bar high and while this does have some memorable songs I wasn’t exactly blown away by it as their previous efforts did.)
