If you want to imagine my desk, just think of a garbage dump.

What about those that have 5.1 systems but don't currently have something behind to put the rear channels on? Should I have ignored the fact that I'll be moving in 3 months to somewhere where I can mount my rear channels behind me and gotten a 2.1 instead?
I haven't taken pictures of my current desk setup. I'm not at my apartment, and my house setup is mediocre at best. I have my rear channels off to the sides, and my front channels in front. To be honest, though, I can distinguish the sound between the channels, and it works just fine for me. My point is, some of us have different circumstances or preferences. Telling someone what it's much better to do [when you haven't been asked], even if they have something setup for whatever reason, is fairly asinine.

No. Since you do have plans to utilize them properley you made a wise decision.
My point is for people who are never going to place them properley, it would be better to have gotten a high quality 2.1 system which cost the same and sounds better than most pc surround systems (except for the high end surround systems if your willing to dish out). Its very bad for postional audio also when you put rear speakers in front.

I can't tell anyone what to do and i wasn't trying, this thread is about our pcs and i just mentioned a few points about optimal speaker placement which was a worthwile discussion and on topic, its not like i was rude or started calling people noobs. Sorry i didn't mean to offend you or your speakers.

I've seen tons of Alienware case clones. Just a few hours ago, in fact (I was buying a couple of Delta FFB fans for a friend). Google for Raidmax Ninja
Although actually the ones I saw today were more identical (the design along the bottom especially) and I would guess that these clones are not as glossy as the Alienware originals.
