Windows Media Player not working in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera... Help?

Recently, no embedded Windows Media player files using the three browsers work. Instead of connecting to the media it just says 'Ready' at the bottom and even if you click play it doesn't do anything. I have tried lots of different ways to try and fix the problem with Firefox but none of them have worked and it is an all round problem. I have reinstalled Windows Media player and Firefox but still the embedded files won't play.

I am using Windows Media Player 11 Beta but I haven't experienced and problems with this version in the past.

Has anybody had similar problems and fixed them? Or does anybody know how to rectify this problem? Please help... :w00t

Open the program normally and go to: tools - options and check the settings on the first page that says "Connect to Internet (overrides other commands)"

Yeah, I had it a very long time ago and it beat the hell out of me so I just checked over the settings and experimented. But that does mean I know what I'm doing hehe :)

Out of curiosity is yours ticked or unticked now that it works?

Sorry to go off topic a little bit, but I need an answer to this. Does anyone know of a media player that will allow me to take still images of the video?

Windows Media Player does, go to Tools -> Options as above, go to the 'Performance' page and set the slider marked 'Video Acceleration' to 'None' (or the left-most position). Just Print Screen as normal.

Be sure to put it back to 'Full' when you're done though, otherwise you may have poor playback quality.
