This site really has been going down hill recently, there are some nice guys but also lots of idiots. (It's just hit the bottom)
I'm sure the mods and staff are doing a fine job, but the idiots still prevail, flaming all the time.

There are so many insults around and most of the threads seem to be off topic. Things that keep other sites like hl2world together is the skill you see in the modders and mappers, as well as the advice they give.

There also seem to be too many religious flaming threads.
People believing what they want doesn't hurt you.
but you insulting what they believe does hurt them.

anyway, don't know how much time ill be spending here much more, as you can see; I haven't posted in ages because of all of this. My new homepage is engadget, constant news updates and friendly people.

100% agreement.
Why I haven't been looking too often anymore.

I think if we had news on the consoles, it would be heaps cool, because half life really doesnt make much news besides mods, and maybe there could be a half life related news column, and an other gaming related news column.

It would be heaps cool, but it would also be heaps more work for the news team, considering we're primarily a HL site. Maybe if all non-HL news was user submitted it could happen, but even then they'd have to be updating all the time.

Though it's kind of dead too.

While posting stuff like x360, ps3 and wii news would make everything a bit more active, the site would require a complete redesign and a renaming. It's just not going to happen unfortunatley.

Naturally if there's Valve related console news, I post it on the frontpage.

In addition to the lack of posting by members here @ hlfallout, there is another concept to blame here:

Valve simply haven't given us much Half-life related stuff to talk about, I mean, whens the last time we heard anything about H-L2: Episode 2? We've heard a bit here and there about Team Fortress 2 but nothing really Half-life related.

A new CS: Source update wouldn't go a miss and would give the community something to talk about.

Well I think having us all star in a machinma would be pretty cool.. or perhaps create an easy going mod... like Fallout deathmatch or something. Put all of our skills together. We've got musicians - theres your soundtrack, modelers - theres your characters. Coders - theres your weapons, mappers - Do I really need to go further?

How about an art contest or something?

I think a mod would be fun, I'm working on my own at the moment but if i posted it it would just get shot down :P

Also - GET RID OF THE POST COUNT! Interlopers.net, a Source mapping forum I frequent on has recently got rid of the postcount and things couldnt be better. Postcounts always end up being a status gauge, get rid of it and people are judged by themselves not their postcount.

I'm with ^Slick. Keep post searching, as it can be helpful, but remove the post count. Who gives a damn how many posts you have.

We know you really care, I can imagine you tallying up your posts on the walls. But seriously, remove the post count. I will start a campaign to remove it!

Also, we need people to go onto IRC, so many awesome members only post on the forums, IRC is so much more fun.

IRC got boring when wiggle, slash, ren, djn etc etc left. I pop in every now and again but nothing is ever going on.

Well we can all go on now and turn this topic into chat, and all suggest things.

Suggest things? Hmmm, heres a perfect example - Go to the main page. Look down below forum topics and look at the latest features. 3 calenders. The latest 1 is december. 'Up to minute coverage of Half-life 2' - Yeh ok.

The last calendar is December because Warvan said he would make them for all of 2006, and he did. It is now 2007, he had fullfilled his promise. Those weren't made by the website, but my a member.
