Anti-World of Warcraft... your opinions
#1 Posted 03 August 2007 - 08:06 PM
I've recently tried World of Warcraft, because my Boss/Friend has recently gotten totally consumed with WoW.
At first I'm like, hey my buddy has gotten into yet another Gaming warp, no big deal it's happened before.
So he's like, hey come join me in WoW, so I paid @$20.00 for 30 free days.
I create an imaginative NightElf(or whatever) and I start what I thought would be a pretty cool gaming experience.
The problems started when WoW ended up taking too much space on my C: drive and it was messing up O&O
defrag, so I'm skeptical about whether I can have WoW on my Workstation(I've since removed it).
Well to make a long story short, I really didn't like WoW's style of game play, fair enough.
Lets jump ahead two weeks, my Boss/Friend hasn't talked to me the whole time, it's like he's avoiding me because of something right?
Well I learned from my other Co-worker/Friend that my Boss/Friend has been totally sucked into WoW.
This explains a lot, he won't call me because he's been neglecting his company, there is NO money in the payroll, and were loosing clients and employees.
So because my Friend is all World of Warcracked, I (most likely) will not have a job in the next coming weeks.
I am pretty pissed and I know I can't blame WoW but what else can I do with my anger?
If my friend gets the Balls to come out of his WoW hole, I will certainly tell him whats up.
Well if anyone else's life is in the grinder because of a friend or loved one being totally consumed by WoW, post here.

But that is really lame man you need to hand it to him big time. Seriously, give him a few slaps or something.

Personally, I played the game for about two days, but found it to be too slow, repetitive, and all-around mediocre. I prefer the Warcraft RTS games too WoW. I'm not saying anoyone who plays this game has bad taste, I'm just saying it's sad to see people so consumed by a game. I mean, people have died from lack of sleep/food. I think that the South Park episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft" best sums up my feelings for WoW.
EDIT: You should make this into a poll.
What do you think of WoW?
1)Awesome!
2)Sucks
3)Good Game, but too consuming.
4)I'm addicted and I know it!
5)I don't have a problem! I can stop anytime!

I tried making it a poll, didn't work.
But it's ok opinions are what I made this thread for.
To elaborate my Boss/Friend is a CEO of a Software company, this is no joke. This is the worst incident I've heard of concerning WoW addiction.
If he wasn't ******* with my life I wouldn't be so pissed.

People have DIED playing this game dude. There are little kiddies all over the world dropping dead because they play this game non-stop on their breaks from school. And it's not only the lives of people that are slowly dying, but the social lives as well! Can you imagine walking into a bar and hearing some guy say, "Sooooo.... wanna go home with a lvl. 70 tonight, baby? You should hear my Intimidating shout!"

Yes that is certainly worse, I wasn't aware that the deaths were from WoW, but now that I hear it I'm not surprised.
I guess I meant that this is the worst WoW addiction senario I been personally involved with.
It's a Damn shame.
I think my Friend is going through some personal issues, and is escaping full-force into WoW.

Certainly is a perfect escape...

For most, it would seem.
I have many avenues of escape myself.
1.Doing Art
2.Riding my bike (to the Woods)/Hiking
3.Reading
4.Movies
5.Video Games
So as not to sound hypocritical I believe a certain amount of escape is good/healthy.
I Take care of business FIRST, then I "take off" into my own world at the end of the day/weekends.
I've been that way all of my life (since grade school).
I'm also single, so I have a lot of freedom.
My Friend has a small Family, man I hope he gets his ******* together soon.
