I'm in the process of completing my open water diver certification and just did my first open water dive in 60 degree water.

EDIT . . . I'm getting my certificate so I can scuba in the cayman islands, anyone have any pointers for me?

Ah, scuba, I would have wanted to learn that, I have done some snorkeling, but that's about it.
Sadly, both my parents were into scuba diving in their late 20s, and it just would not have done for me to get into it as a rebellious asshole teenager.
Fortunately getting wet in 1°C water is a tradition in Finland, just make a hole in the ice, drink booze and heat the sauna.

Nobody uses kelvin but scientists, but it would be so much easier if we all used the same system. I wouldn't mind switching to metric at all
they tried it, and everyone raged, never gonna happen cause it would be "too european/socialist", its just too ingrained in the american culture. maybe in a few generations...

@Cake, you'll only need a shorty suit at the most. My family and I used to dive in Cozumel every year, I miss it so much. Oh, and if you take any equipment like a camera or anything, BELT IT TO YOUR BCD. My dad nearly lost an $800 camera and housing because it slipped of his wrist. Luckily, the dive master found it in a barrel sponge after the dive.

It's the most logical scale.
Getting everyone on the same system would probably clean up on conversion errors, especially since gram and liters scales are internationally used a lot in technical professions.
