I lucked out and bought Alan Wake before they ran out of keys on greenmangaming.com.

I just beat The Darkness 2 twice. Once on hard and the other on new game plus or minus mode on "Don" difficulty (which is . . . super hard?). Took me ten hours (!), six on my first. My first playthrough was the hardest one, getting used to the powers and enemies and what not, the gun channeling with dual wield is ridiculously over powered, especially if you have the ammo upgrades. It took me less then thirty seconds to kill the last boss using that power up. Pretty good shooter, too bloody short though, and the mansion levels were retarded. Talking to some of the main characters would get you more of a back story but everyone else in the mansion though was just there for filler. I wish I had played the first one now though, the story was pretty good (especially after doing the "true" ending), my mind was blown.

Alan Wake is fucking awesome. That's all I have to say about that.

EDIT . . . Why did you take 182 screenshots in Alan Wake City?

Alan Wake is pretty good but the gameplay gets stupidly repetitive. The first level shows you all the enemy variation and gimmicks the game has.

Far Cry 3 gameplay video:

It looks awesome, but I'm still disappointed about the lack of health bars and weapon jamming. Also, **** the RPG-lite elements that plague every shooter nowadays.

Yeah, I'd say the gameplay in Alan Wake is like a 7/10. Story and atmosphere however, 10! It's also visually and audibly very appealing.

Weapon jamming and deterioration in Far Cry 2 was awesome, as was the health system. But, as usual, people complained about the good stuff because it required more attention/effort, and thus they were cut.

Like all sandbox games something like this would benefit immensely from an active modding scene.

My problem with the weapon jamming in FC2 was that all of your enemies carried rusty poop-covered rifles that exploded in your hands as soon as you fired them, yet they seemed to work for the untrained African guys.

You mean they made the game hilariously boring.
That Malaria bullshit (you had to get every 30 minutes) got you out of the action every goddamn time. Worst design decision ever.
The map wasn't fun to explore and the overly aggressive AI annoyed me too.

What a horrible game. Not interested in 3 whatsoever.

EDIT: SYNDICATE is amazing

I played Syndicate for a couple of hours. I'm two hours in and it's fun, but the abilities you get are completely useless since the levels are on rails and the game throws so few weak enemies at you that there's never any point to using them, and larger enemies are immune to them.
There's some nice vistas but that's all they are, like I said the game is pretty linear and you're stuck in corridors most of the time like Darkness 2 and whatever other recent shooter you can think of. There's also a bunch of unskippable five minute long scripted events which are probably annoying as shit if you're planning on replaying the game.
The shooting is very fun, but this is another game with hitmarkers for some reason. Darkness 2, Crysis 2, Resistance 3, FEAR 3, Mass Effect 3, Saints Row 3 and now this game, it seems like every recent SP shooter needs to tell the mentally challenged/SDTV owners that they are indeed hitting that guy they just headshot with a shotgun from two inches away.

I would put it on par with The Darkness 2, it's very fun to play and worth checking out, but not at full price. Publishers should give up on the whole EVERYTHING MUST BE U$60 angle since all it's doing is making most of their products be dead on arrival on release. I haven't seen any advertising for this game, so I'm sure it's going to bomb.

t-t-t-triple post

Just beat Syndicate, took 6 hours total, maybe a bit less.

It's a pretty solid title overall but not worth u$60. The powers you get become useful eventually, but by the time they do you have forty minutes left until the end of the game.

One thing I found weird was how quiet the game was most of the time, it seems like outside of a handful of areas there was never any music at all.

UGH!!!

It definitely looks like a dig at that Razer website last year, but really these sites would have been more relevant six to eight years ago when people actually thought PC-gaming was dying.
Let's just hope they make a good joke out of it.
