Being unemployed

Anyone else in the same situation? I think some places are being hit harder than others, but because of the national news being the way it is, it's hard to know how well other countries are doing. Is the global recession affecting them just as badly?

I'll probably just end up in tele-research for a little bit. It pays well.

Eat my piss.

I live in the south of England, so you could call that a state. You did the sensible thing it sounds like. The gap year was a plan to procure funds, but now I wish I'd gone to uni with the rest of my friends. Ah well, f*** it is my motto.

Same here. Been unemployed since the end of August, although I've only really seriously been looking for a job since November. I think I just underestimated how bad the situation is here. I always figured I could easily get some office job somewhere within a couple of weeks and get rich for the rest of the year, learn to drive, get a nice computer, pay back my debts, but this has all gone to hell.
I thought I was quite depressed for a while with nothing to do, but I'm not usually that sort of personality. I got seriously pissed off a couple of times and broke a few things lol, but I'm just trying to go out with friends, keep myself busy and stop myself being cooped up in the house. It's not easy with £80 in the world.

Slightly different to a gap year, but I also did a placement year in industry last year which was the best decision ever as I got a load of experience, pretty much guarenteed a job there and money to pay for this year and more.
Just a bit unlucky that you're not a year older (or younger? we'll see) to have your gap year out of the "recession". Even more unlucky that you have to pay the stupid uni prices...i'm part of the last year when it was "cheap" :P

plenty of time to play games though!
I'm finishing college next year and going straight into work, I don't think uni is for me... im taking driving lessons though so I hope that will help a bit.

You have to do what you have to do. I used to drive 2 hours to get to my job (50 miles + traffic). It was hell, but it had to be done. Best option I suggest is going to school and getting a loan/work program. That way, you can get financial aid (~5K) + 12.5/Hr

So I've decided to stop wasting time and go back to school starting Jan. Having no money is a pain, but getting an education will be nice.
