BF3 is pretty mediocre on 360, but what isn't these days? A few exceptions pop up here and there but by and large, refer to that soapbox thread. So I understand that my plan to build a hot PC in a year or so to purchase BF3 for the compy would be a wasted effort? Damn. I was looking forward to the construction.

There are some big and very legitimate complaints about BF3, though my experience is only with the PC version. But I'd argue it's still one of the best online shooters available and will undoubtedly improve from here.

I'll probably buy the BtK pack and be part of the problem, but I didn't pay for BF3 so I don't really care.

A few clarifications on BTK pack:

All stats contribute to global soldier scores
Weapon unlocks you earn in BTK are afterwards available in vanilla BF3 as well
All game modes available
December 2011 release

Honestly I'm probably going to wait a year to pick up BF3.

Dice has a history of releasing broken, so I might as well wait for it to be cheaper.

Plus, Bad Company 2 is in a nice state.

Got my first crash yesterday. Feels bad. :(

I think I accidentally hit Tab too hard or something.

In other news, someone needs to customize the HLF platoon emblem.

I've been getting consistent crashes since release date so I decided to live chat with DICE support. They said to update my video card drivers which I did and that didn't solve the problem. Then they said that my graphics card is not supported and will have to be upgraded to run BF3. I have a nVidia 480GTX 256mb. Anyone else having the same problem with this generation of cards?

Uhm well 256mb is a bit on the low side. Isn't a 480 GTX like 1.5 gig?

My mistake I just checked Dxdiag it's around 2856MB. So it meets the min requirements I still don't understand what's the issue.

Well that means Dice support is full of shit, since that card should be able to play BF3 on decent settings.

Here's what I found on some random forum:

I have the fix to all the crashes in bf3 Posted Image
Make sure to close down bf3 and origin! Origin must not be running!! Then go to your control panel, and press remove program, mark punkbuster, and delete punkbuster. A popup window appers, press finish. Then Reboot your computer. Start Origin, and then RIGHT-CLIK on bf3, and choce repair. Let it do it`s thing, and when finish, the game runs perfectly Posted Image

Hope it helps.

Does that fix actually work or is it just coincidence that he did it and hasn't had a crash since?

Torches (or flashlights for you yanks) are to be toned down in a future patch and the difference is quite large. Not sure if that's a server or client side patch or if it's just toned down in day light or in the dark too.
