Does that fix actually work or is it just coincidence that he did it and hasn't had a crash since?

Torches (or flashlights for you yanks) are to be toned down in a future patch and the difference is quite large. Not sure if that's a server or client side patch or if it's just toned down in day light or in the dark too.

Thank the lord. Being blinded by a fucking 10 trillion candle power flashlight in the middle of an open field at noon is by far the most annoying thing for me in this game.

Didn't try it out since I haven't had a crash since after the first few days of release.

Also, I don't love BF3 Blog. :P (click your link)

Hard to copy/paste a shortened link. You can right-click it and copy the links location though. :P

EDIT: And yes, very happy they made this change. Really hated those annoying bright lights right from the start.

I have a GeForce 460 1GB and BF3 runs on all high at 1600x1050 (or whatever that resolution is) with no AA perfectly for me, so your 2.5GB card should run it easily.

Hihi, nitpicking ftw! :D

While joining the HLF platoon, I noticed I've only played for 2 hours and 20 minutes so far.
Guess starting tomorrow (since I have my last exam of the week tomorrow) I'll play some more and hope one of you HLF dudes are also playing.

Well that means Dice support is full of shit, since that card should be able to play BF3 on decent settings.

Here's what I found on some random forum:

Hope it helps.

I saw that link earlier and am trying that out as I type this post. Thanks man

EDIT: doesn't work. ah I'm gonna try reformatting because it just might be my PC.

I have to agree. I was actually in the army and had a flashlight on my M4 (and Meprolight reflex sights later EOTech holographics sights until I switched to ITL MARS sights). Some of the other guys also had flashlights on their weapons, and even though it was a powerful, blinding flashlight -- it wasn't that blinding in daylight, but when it was completely dark it could blind you almost completely.

But we never EVER used them when we went on missions. They revealed our positions, and that's never a good idea for the enemy to know your exact location (a powerful flashlight in the dark can be seen miles away). We instead opted for silencers and nightvision mounted on our helmets. A few lucky guys were awarded infared vision (not everyone got one because they were more expensive than nightvision).

Tactically speaking, infared vision + weapon silencers are the best choice for CQ. Flashlights are for underfunded amateur armies and militias.

Well actually it was really easy shooting people that used the flashlight on the Metro map, since they were so easy to spot.
