hello.
just signed up today so this is my first post.
i noticed a while ago that every half-life game either begins or ends on a train (or sometimes both.) execption being oposing force but that wasnt made by valve but it did start and end on an osprey and had a train near the begining
half-life 1: starts and ends on train, ok its a monorail but it is still runs on rails so is a form of train)
blue shift: begins on train
hl2: begins and ends on a train
episode 1: ends on a train
and episode 2 begins on a train
after looking around he internet it seems that nobody else has noticed this. exept mabie this article from trains in games http://www.trainsing...lflife2episode2

Hi Dan, welcome to HLFallout.
Just a warning, most of the community is very hostile to newcomers. But once you settle in here it's a good forum.
Yes Valve seem to be into trains and in fact many would argue the best level they ever created was 'on a rail' from HL1.

Its not really a major plot point or anything. Its just a nice way of making an introduction or exit to a game and since the first game's intro went down so well i think they just continued along those lines for the next games, probably for nostalgia's sake.
Just rest assured the start of episode 3 won't be on a train.

Your perceptions seem to proceed you, as we have already noticed this.

it could be a whole metaphore
the train could represent gordon's life is in constant motion, each person/town is nothing more than passing memory, ultimately reaching his final destination (ie death)
Which in a way, you could say that gordon freeman is really just dreaming a fantastic journey through a dark and mysterious world before he sucums to a terminal desease.
