You can play as MP1's Max model in Arcade mode complete with the model itself having lip-sync. Amazing.

Edit: Supposedly the Old School difficulty removes the cover system.

That's awesome... How are they doing the lip syncing though? In max Payne 1 all the faces were pretty much just flat images.

Oh fuck yes. If that's true, then I'm playing old school difficulty first.

Is that a pre-order bonus or standard option? :P

Old School difficulty removes the cover and last man standing, but you can't select it until you beat the game.

If I read on Steam correctly you are correct the Max Payne 1 Skin is a pre-order bonus.

Hmm, not sure my retail copy gets any bonuses... weirdly the site I'm buying from only lists the special edition pc copy for sale now. I just got the regular one though since I don't need a Max statue taking up space.

The special edition is getting a PC release too? According to DrMatta it was console only.

If anyone cares (AS IF) I can do a brief write-up on the SP and MP features in this game.

On the HMV site it listed the special edition PC version... now even thats gone. I hope my PC version will still get delivered to me.
it's still listed here and a few other places though. £99 is pretty steep though.

This game should be PC only, then there would be no need to make things easier or add cover.

EDIT . . . The gametrailers review is fucking horrible, DO NOT watch it. It also has major spoilers.

Read the kotaku review, it's well written (other than the obvious typos) and does a good job of conveying what you want/need to know about the game.

I put the link in spoiler tags to deter anyone who has a really good memory or is going to play it tomorrow.

If you thought GameTrailers' review was horrible then watch GameSpot's. It's even worse.

IGN's review is 5 minutes long yet says nothing about the game.

Having started playing through MP1 for the first time (thanks Nachiketh!) I'm quite impressed. The graphics (or is that textures) still look pretty good. Maybe it's just the whole way the game is presented (monologues and comic strip “cut scenes”) which immerses you in the world and makes you forget about the graphics.

I still think the graphics are pretty great for max payne, some of the rooms are a little under furnished but there is a lot of detail on stuff, like the soda machines and the soda cans all the breakable glass and objects everywhere look awesome when your in a gun fight and they all explode and smash in slow mo. I also love the music too!

I always liked how smug Max looked when doing anything.

Or trying to hide the fact he just bit on a lemon. He did a funny face when he was on fire or dying too but I can't find a screenshot of it.
