Looks like a run of the mill third person shooter in a less interesting setting with more 'CINEMATIC REALISM EPIC MOVIE' rubbish. Rockstar suck and I'm sure this will suck too.

eatchildren stop trolling

i hope rockstar keeps their cinematic shit to a minimum even if they probably won't. I don't want fight arena - cinematic room - fight arena - cinematic room. I want a constant stream of shooting through the whole level like in the first and second games.

I want that and a high difficulty. I liked that enemy shots in Max Payne 1/2 packed a punch and made for intense gunfights. A guy with a shotgun was something to fear.

But I'm sure regenerating health, cover mechanics, and Made For Console Aiming™ will ensure a slower, boring Max Payne. At least the cinema will be gripping, emotional Oscar worthy stuff of dreams.

I thought it was already confirmed you don't have regenerating health and still need to use painkillers to heal..

There's no regenerating health and you carry painkillers like in the old games. If there's health regeneration it will possibly be like in the old games where you only regained 10% slowly.
A cover system makes sense in a shooter and it's completely optional, most videos so far have put emphasis in shooting out of cover.

The shooting, animations and level design look extremely good, it's just the structure of the game I'm worried about since Rockstar is another Movie Game company like most these days.

I love max Payne more than most other games... Can't justify buying the special edition. If they did for the first game though I'd give all my money to them!

Isn't the entire idea behind Max Payne John Woo like cinematic gameplay coupled with over the top noir storytelling.
What's all the complaining about movie/cinematic style?

Is there any news on the comics. They said they're doing but a bit different and I'd like to see one before they ship

Because the Payne games always managed to be cinematic without obtruding the gameplay, which was an action game at its core.
It remains to be seen if Rockstar, a studio which primarily focuses on Movie Games, doesn't fill it with scripted sequences such as having to wait for an event (such as dialogue, long animation, etc.) to happen to be able to continue.
On the plus side, Rockstar's last game, Red Dead Redemption, allowed you to skip all the cutscenes and dialogue at the beginning of missions, so maybe the franchise is in good hands.

Is this from the same Rockstar studio as the one that made Read Dead Redemption?

It's being made by the studio who made Bully. There's rumors they are going to do Bully 2 after they are done with this.

The story is being written by Dan Houser isn't it? I wonder if he'll be capable of writing characters that aren't stereotypes or have over the top gimmicks like in GTA and RDR.

New Trailer

That one felt very much like Max Payne.
EDIT: I might just be excited to hear James McCaffrey again though.

I'm officially excited for this game now. I REALLY hope that the game starts off sunny and gets darker and darker as you progress through the game (with it ending at night).
