Oh come on, the story in Max Payne has always been ridiculously generic, it's part of the charm. Remedy even made "dick Justice" as a parody of Max Payne 1's storyline in MP2.
It's silly, over the top gritty generic cop stuff, and that's why it's delightful. Only now that the franchise has traded hands, everyone is looking for bandwagons of hate to jump on.

The story's always been a bit a cliche but I thought the writing was good. This just felt... like they were trying too hard. Perhaps it's just a different writing style, but the writing was always one of the best bits about the previous games. If anyone's ever read Raymond Chandler they'll know it's almost identical, Max even references Philip Marlowe in the first game.

All we are saying is that the dysfunctional childhood stuff was kind of unnecessary with the shit Payne already went through.

Awesome. Pre-ordered this today. Can't wait. Hopefully they'll remain at least a little bit true to the original games by Remedy.

No problem! Though I have read that Midnight Club 2 doesn't work with vista or win 7 so it's weird they are giving that out!

EDIT . . . also, after watching the launch trailer, I really hope that poets of the fall song is in the game somewhere, even if it's the main menu music just like in mp2

I played the first two levels on the 360, it's pretty good. There doesn't seem to be a last man standing mode though, only Score Attack, New York Minute and New York Minute Hardcore.
