Stop spoiling yourself.

If you liked Payne 1 and 2 you'll like 3, it's the same except gorier and with a 3 weapon limit.

The best thing is that Max has different variations of his lines during gameplay if you're replaying a section.

Looks and sounds a lot better than I expected. Deathcam with continuous shooting is just brutal. Theme music and Max's monologs are the real thing.

Hopefully the game isn't piss-poorly optimized and the pc-controls are like they should be. At least they can't **** up the latter, or can they? Dun dun dun...

Chapters 1-5 are up. I stopped watching after I finished chapter 4, I couldn't take it anymore, the guy that's playing it is horrible (uses cover way too much).

Everything seems to be awesome, I was worried about the removal of the comic book panels, but the cutscenes and monologues make up for it. I love that there aren't any loading screens and the cutscenes flow so well to the action, it begs you to keep playing since it never breaks pace. The cutscenes look like they were taken from a tony scott movie, I read that the shifts and quick edits were supposed to keep max in his own surreal version of the world throughout, since he's addicted to booze and painkillers. Can't wait to play it.

Ah thats good, Liked that in GTA as well if you failed or redid a mission most of the time there would be different conversations

I've been replaying Payne 1 and I'm reminded why, since 2001, I've never played it more than four or five times total while my replay count for 2 is probably in the double digits already. The regular slow motion is useless since Max is just as slow as his enemies in it, so if you see a group of shotgun pellets heading towards Max you may as well hit the quick load key. Shoot dodge is useless as well since enemies are such bullet sponges that by the time it's over you won't have killed even one enemy and you'll get killed while Max is getting up from the dive. The game frequently devolves into trial and error with enemies (usually shotgun ones) appearing from a corner and instantly killing you, this wouldn't be an issue if they were as fragile as Max, but even unarmored enemies can take three shotgun blasts to the chest and still be standing. The only way the game isn't frustratingly hard is that you can easily exploit the AI by rolling everywhere, which throws enemy aim off quite a bit, but God help you if you're in a corridor or a narrow area.

It's still a pretty good game, but Payne 2 improved on it in every single way by balancing the difficulty and making bullet time useful.

I actually just finished mp1 again and just started 2 and like the first one for the reasons you list as bad. It's one of the extremely few shooters that are challenging. The game has quite a bit of a learning curve, but it actually fits the game well and keeps it fun. I liked that enemies could just pop out and one shot me, it kept me alert and gave the feel the max wasn't some superhuman. The trial and error was fun instead of the usual easy tour through a game. I just started 2 and it's a lot easier, but I think it might get harder later. The videos of 3 look kind of disappointing in comparison with max being a bullet sponge and painkillers healing most of his health if the player is bad enough to take that much damage. A lot of the lines seem like fillers and it detracts from the style it seems. Adding cover fire just makes the game the same as every other third person cover shooter, just with a slomo gimick and decent story, instead of having fresh gameplay and forcing aggressive play.
