Try to enjoy the gameplay in Arcade mode. Have to sit through half a dozen cutscenes for a 5-10 minute level.
Try to play Multiplayer with friends. Get constantly disconnected when there's more than one person in our crew.

Are you trying to make me hate this game, Rockstar? The gameplay is pretty good, but your writing and engine are pure shit.

Also the rockstar downloader that opens when you launch the game doesn't have a close or exit button do you have to go into the task manager to force it to close. Rockstar sure do suck at pc stuff.

After you cover Passos in the third level at the stadium, the loading screen there during the cutscene is 3 minutes long. Before that you're showered with 30 second gameplay segments in-between 1 minute long cutscenes/loading times.

why is this not being mentioned in reviews? come on seriously

The only thing that seemed to work when we tried to do mp was inviting ppl to games you were already playing. But yea, that was almost an hour of pure fail, I can't believe we sat at that menu screen for that long.

Never again.

I know it's pretty shocking, I think it has more cutscenes than uncharted, they seem just way to frequent, as I said before I like looking around levels just pissing about looking at things but every time I go though a door it plays a cutscene and I'm somewhere completely different. If remedy made this I think it would have been more like the other max Payne games and Alan wake where most of the cut scenes are at the start and end of a level with one or two in the middle at key points. It really spoils this game and I just feel like its doing everything it can to stopping me enjoying it. Also I'm getting irritated the amount of time Passos calls you 'bro' and I prefer the levels where you arn't following him around. In max Payne 1 and 2 you are on your own most of the time and with mona in max Payne 2 you weren't following her, you split up.

When I vist this thread sometimes it takes me to the first post with the image saying coming in 2009... I wonder what game it would have been like if it were realesed then.

It probably would have had 60% more cut scenes than it does now.

Just got my first crash, happened when the in game cut scene transitioned to a video version. It's beyond a joke with the cut scenes now, I'm really surpriesed when I walk through a door and no cut scene starts.

The reason I hate it most is it just throws you into action the second the cut scene is over, there is no chance to spring up on anyone. Half of them don't actually have anything interesting to show, walking through a room or going into an elevator don't really call for it. I love the detail in this game though, shooting just about anything damages it, and also if you don't empty a magazine and you reload you can see bullets still inside it but if you empty it before reloading it's empty when you throw it on the ground.

I wish all the shell casings could stay on the ground for longer. I think it looks cool after you kill everyone and all the debris and shells are everywhere just to show what a mess you have made to the building!

Supposedly the game script was always the same and nothing got changed since that 2009 announcement.

Passos is an ok character. LATINO PRIDE.

Is anyone else bothered by the mouse acceleration? I'm also having some annoying stuttering issues in certain open areas, like when entering the rooftops in the first New York level, and it's very annoying since it makes the mouse go crazy. I tried lowering the settings but it remains the same.

I finally finished the game on medium.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. I liked the story and writing, and for the first play through, I didn't mind there being cut scenes for most doorways. I started going through the levels again on easy to get all the golden guns and clues, and now the cut scenes are a bit irritating (although better than loading screens). The worst part is not being able to exit out of the game during a cut scene. I wish they had an exit to menu option when you paused a video.

The thing is that most of the loading times in this game are 5-10 second tops. The game is making you sit through the cutscenes for no reason.

I know, but I'm having issues believing that the engine is incapable of loading anything more than a hallway and two rooms. If it sometimes takes up to a minute or three to load that they should've spent 3 of the 4 years they spent making this game working on the godawful engine. There's no excuse for the loading times when there's plenty of games this generation that look beautiful and don't require insane loading times every 2 minutes of gameplay.

This is the most schizophrenic game I've played in quite a while, running around shooting people in beautifully designed environments with great gunplay is perfect, but then you're confronted with five hundred cutscenes, terrible loading or bad gameplay mechanics like bullet time being impossible to fill without camping behind cover or, since Max has regional damage, losing all your health in one shot by a guy on the other side of the room.

I have to start Max Cutscene 3 again because the game erased all my progress.

Also I had to rename the 'max payne 3' directory to 'maxpayne3' because Rockstar included an install bug related to folder names that prevents the game from booting.

Oh, and the cutscene floating dialogue and glitchy footage is overdone to the point of satire.

Awesome game.

Has anyone played much of the multiplayer? I got really into it yesterday, I love the bus depot map but I wish the weapon levelling was easier to work out, I want to get more stuff for my pistol so I have been using it loads but it doesn't seem to have moved the progress bar at all. I'm still getting stuttering while playing multiplayer though which is annoying and caused me to get killed quite a few times.

Agreed. They should have stuck to key words for the floating dialogue instead of nearly entire sentences, and the glitchy footage should have been limited to when he was on a bender.

For all its problems, I had a lot of fun with it for the first play through, and besides not being able to exit the game from a cut scene, I'm having fun going through trying to get all the clues and golden guns.
