We’re just heard that Bethesda’s announced a new Fallout game - titled Fallout: New Vegas - at its London showcase.

Apparently it’s the same style of game as Fallout 3.

We’re waiting on more detail.

Update: It’s releasing in 2010. Obsidian’s developing.

Update 2: It’s PC, PS3 and 360. Not a Fallout 3 sequel.

“It’s not Fallout Tactics — it’s not Brotherhood Of Steel. It’s another Fallout game,” said Hines. “It has no impact on what [Bethesda Game Studios game director]Todd Howard and his guys are planning.”

Hmm, I thought Bethesda had/bought all the rights for Fallout name. This might be good though, because for what I've heard some guys at Obsidian have worked on previous Fallout games.

Edit: I'm guessing this will be turn based and completely different comparing to Bethesda's approach.

Fallout 3 was crap, but this isn't being developed by Bethesda so it'll probably be a good game.

There are some Black Isle people working on it apparantly, so I'm curious how it will play out.

Still without anything else to go on, there really isn't anything more to say about it.

As someone who has only played Fallout 3 I'm happy. I think there are more people out there who haven't played Fallout than have...so suck it!

I think this would give more hope to those that HAVE played the first two since some Black Isle developers are involved, and Bethesda is only producing and not developing, so there is hope it is more true to the originals than Fallout 3 was.

I presume the only reason Bethesda isnt working on this directly is because they are busy with the Elder Scrolls V.

What? I thought Bethesda didn't have anything to do with this? Read the quote in the first post:

I honestly don't care how it really is but I do hope that Box is right :tongue. Big fan of TES series (since Morrowind).

Even oblivion ?

Bethesda need to get some new artists, new animators and play test their games.

It just means it's a separate game and isn't Fallout 4 (or whatever Bethesda is working on developing).

I still haven't finished Fallout 3 and I have never played the first 2 games. Should I? I think there was a bundle of Fallout 1, 2 & Tactics for like €10 or so.

^

Tried it, not aged very well looking it as a new comer. I Don't recommend it, but I'm sure many people will disagree with me.

Edit: And Oblivion was amazing at the time, but I agree that it was dumbed down from Morrowind. Still, I like the series and always will. Also, Morrowind had longer lasting appeal for me comparing to Oblivion, but still Oblivion was fun for dozens of hours.
