Wait, is this another DLC or a full fledged game?

Full fledged game. A retail expansion pack if you will.

Aaaah. Yeah, I'm not even going to bother picking it up. I never bought any of the DLC for Fallout 3 and I didn't really play it a whole lot. Bethesda's RPG's sort of lost their charm with me rather quickly.

Erm...
It's a whole new story, in a whole new environment, it's not DLC, it's a full game, and it's not even made by Bethesda.

What are you talking about? O_o

It's a new game, check out the link a page back. See if that peaks your interest. It certainly did mine.

Do you think they're suddenly going to completely change the gameplay somehow? From the screens I've seen it looks identical to Fallout 3. Now, I think Fallout 3 was a great game, but not as great as others. I never bothered playing the DLC and I never went back and replayed it after the first playthrough.

I'll probably just avoid it.

Like I said before, it's retail expansion pack. Gameplay and graphics will probably be similar but with some slight differences. Everything else will be basically Fallout 3: Las Vegas.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, though, Fallout 3 was amazing so I'll buy this whenever it comes out. It'd be funny if it came out before Alpha Protocol.

I'm really considering trying out the first Fallout game. I've even got it installed, I just haven't played past the first little scene. I'm really going to try. It sounds like a game that might rock if I only give it a chance.

As for Fallout 3, I get people disliking it purely because it is called Fallout and yet is a completely different kind of game, essentially. I feel the same way about Sonic the Hedgehog, and yet from the commercial success of those guys I guess enough people find the newer ones fun. My main questions are for people who just plain think Fallout 3 is a bad game. I thought it was awesome :-D

As for the engine, it looks pretty awesome to me (visually speaking). I've definitely come across some bugs though, so I get that part.

Now I'm gonna check out this link about New Vegas.

Alpha Protocol was supposed to be out before Mass Effect 2 as well...

I've tried playing the first Fallout a couple times. Never got past the training dungeon. :blush

Heh, well, Fallout is from a past age, when PC games used to have depth to them. It can feel a bit hard to get into, but it's oh-so worth it. The only part that has aged baddly about FO1 and 2 is the overworld navigation.

They're pretty though at first. But after a few levels you'll be past the worst.

Seems you can now pre-order it on steam. And other places
With a pre-order bonus. Seems to be trend that ordering at different places grants different "bonuses"

Seems more like a getting started thing.

Also it's using steamworks for achievements (and copyright protection?)

IGN has an interesting and detailed (8 pages long) article about the history of the Fallout franchise, from its roots as a spiritual successor to the Apple II game "Wasteland," up through current legal battles and Fallout: New Vegas.
