We've known it's coming, but here's some details and screens.

Alien Vs Predator 3

Quote

Game info:
Developed at Rebellion by the team responsible for the original 1999 classic, in the all-new Aliens vs. Predator players will have the chance to take the role of the three infamous species; the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien. Each of the three species has its very own distinct story-driven single-player campaign mode that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species. Aliens vs. Predator will also feature unique 3-way online multiplayer, allowing gamers to pit the three species against each other in the ultimate battle for survival and for the right to be crowned the deadliest species.

Aliens vs. Predator™ will be the first title to be launched in SEGA’s forthcoming series of Aliens games licensed by Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox Licensing).

Story:
On planet BG-386 a colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.

Marine

The Marine’s story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanity’s last stand with the firepower to fight back.

Alien

As the Alien, players will discover what it’s like to be the most murderous and lethal creature in the universe, with the ability to traverse any surface with awesome agility in order to get close enough to unleash its deadly teeth and claws.

Predator

A master of the hunt, the Predator grants the player a suite of exotic weaponry and equipment with which to stalk its unknowing prey. Earn the greatest honour by ambushing prey up-close and butchering them for a gory trophy kill.

Platforms:
Aliens vs. Predator is set to be released on Xbox 360Ž video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATIONŽ3 computer entertainment system and Windows-based PC in early 2010.

Quote

Aliens vs Predator is an entirely new title for PC and high-definition consoles from acclaimed British developer Rebellion, the team behind the 1999 original PC gaming classic.

Bringing the most intense war between two of science-fiction’s most popular characters FPS fans, AvP delivers three outstanding single player campaigns and provides untold hours of unique 3-way multiplayer gaming.

Experience distinctly new and thrilling first person gameplay as you survive, hunt and prey in the deadly jungles and swamps surrounding the damned colony of Freya’s Prospect.

- As Private Hal Edison, you’ll experience a claustrophobic and terrifying experience where light is your friend, but there’s never enough. However, the United States Marine Corps are humanity’s last line of defence, and as such they are armed to the teeth with the very latest in high explosive and automatic weaponry.

- As the Predator, you will stalk from the shadows and from above, passing athletically through the treetops to ambush your victims. Although equipped with an array of powerful, exotic weapons and tracking equipment, honour ultimately dictates that you must get in close and take your trophies face to face.

- As the most deadly species in the universe, the Alien offers you the chance to play as the very stuff of nightmares - the monster in the dark swarming forward with countless others, jaws like a steel trap and claws like blades.

- Play all sides off against each other in a series of unique 3-way online modes and go tooth-to-claw-to-pulse rifle in the reinvention of one of multiplayer gaming’s defining moments.

I read a preview of this in a gaming magazine, and it sounded pretty frickin' awesome. It's pretty hyper-violent now, with ripping off heads and spinal cords, but it'll be toned down so as to not get an Adults Only rating.

If it's as violent as AvP2 it will be fine. That had decapitations and head collecting. I don't remember any spines, but that's not important (but would be cool).

I'll be pissed if they tone down the head collecting. It's not Predator unless you're netting trophies.

I do remember reading about trophy kills, done mainly with the blades. But I don't remember how they were important.

They weren't in AvP2 :P. The game just kept a count of how many heads you had collected, either from slicing them off with your blades or staff, or blowing them off and pinning them to a wall with the spear gun.

I don't remember them serving any purpose for the gameplay, but it was a joy to blow someone's head off from up in a tree, have it pin to the branch of another, collect it, and have the Predator let out a mighty roar.

Didn't even realise there was an AvP2 but I loved the first if only for skirmish. Nothing better than going Predator with the spear gun and nailing aliens to the wall :D 3 looks great.

This game does look amazing but I wonder why they are making this and Aliens: Colonial Marines when you look at each game both look very similar, why not just have one or the other?

You cant beat a good AvP game, so two of the same is only better (Higher odds one of them will be good!)

Unless they're made by the same people in which case neither gets full devotion and so both suffer.

Nah, the other one will be made by Gearbox. Both games look great, so Alien-fans will have much to look forward to.
