Hey, guys. I have just started my 3rd year of college a few days ago and have been given a project to do. The brief is to create a reproduction of a Contemporary or Pre-Contemporary, piece of furniture.

I have not yet decided on a piece of furniture, but I think these look pretty slick.

What do you guys think, and do you have any types of furniture that you can suggest?

(Before you suggest a piece, some part of the Furniture has to be made of wood)

So it has to be something that you've seen somewhere else? Or can you pick elements from different pieces?

EDIT: You probably already know this, but the easiest thing you can do is something like a coffee table, and the most difficult is something like a computer desk.

It can be any type of furniture really, aslong as it is not huge. I have to make it look almost exactly the same as the piece I choose, but can use different methods of making it.

EDIT: looool, I accidently edited your post instead of making my own, durrr!

I like the top one, since it doesn't have any visible handles. I'm assuming you push in on the door to make it pop out. And btw, I REALLY want to make my own computer desk because I saw this thread.

...they put something in the water...

the first one is beautiful, but appears to be hard to do, top is one solid piece?

Id say try to do a fancy coffee table because its the center piece around the furniture and can be a topic of discussion and admiration.

By the way it looks, both of the sides are attached using dowels or Mortice and Tenon.

the top piece looks like a single long piece cut from a large thick piece of wood. Thats what I believe since the edges extend a little bit more longer than the top piece, or am i wrong about this?

Id say its hard only that you need some large industrial machine or cnc to do it.

It looks as if the edges would be cut using a CNC as you said. That is probably the way I would do it by machine. By hand.... I'd have to think about that one. :P

You could probably do it if you had a large enough bandsaw.

I always wanted a table that can fit both my PC and TV adjacent to eachother. So that when i wanna watch TV i can just spin the table around then apply the locks on it. Just something that would suit my room and should be pretty cool.

P.S Dont go for the glass one. I have a glass one at work.....its like an added stress that you need to be careful incase you break it everytime u set a cup down. I dont need that stress drinking coffee!
