So I decided to make a sentry as a tribute to my favorite game. Heck, not since quake and half life have I played a game for soo long without it loosing its charm and overall fun.

I first started on making a huge, human sized sentry, made out of wood & PVC pipping, equipped with a paint ball gun inside that would shot at anything that moved and had a particular shape. After laying down a basic frame, I realized that it would likely shoot and kill injure my dogs/nephews/me, so I decided to make a desk version with a couple of servos and balsa wood.

There is still tons to do, I need to add lines, pieces, and clean up the paint among other things ; I also had to eyeball the dimensions and i have taken a bit of liberties with the design due to constraints.

It will tilt and swing using servos, make a flash during firing using a bright LED inside the muzzle and it will have a small speaker on top to make all the lovable sentry sounds.

Ultimately, it will be controlled with a microcontroller and hopefully i can interface it with my laptop. Most likely just drive it with my gamepad, but I would love to find out a way to make TF2 send out my sentry's coordinates and then accurately translate them to my sentry, so I can watch my sentry kill while my sentry kills.

PS: well, I doubt my art contest will take off at this point, so I am just going to make a raffle for hlf members the day before L4D2 comes out and just gift any game they want(under 49.99).

That sounds rather complicated.

The sentry I built only took placing a schematic on the ground and hitting it with a wrench.

I'll try your way when I have too much time on my hands.

This looks wicked.

When you finish this one and perfect the process, will you be making them to order? I'll take one!

It looks like crap,
You're ugly,
Nobody will ever love you,
You're a waste of space on this planet.

Sorry, but with the overwhelmingly positive response, I felt it was my duty to put some texture and nuance to it all.

To be serious, that IS awesome. Keep up the good work.

Wish I had talent or patience to make something that cool.
