Both the Half-Life Fallout and HLF L4D2 Roster is listing a L4D2 zombie slaughter session at 2PM eastern time, which is approximately 55 minutes from now.
Anyone care to tell me what is planned, if anything?

I Survived the January 19th Update and all I got was this lousy sentence.

You just made my brain ASPLODE.
The next Left 4 Dead should be like 8 x 4. It should be called Left 8x4 Dead.
It should be based around the "scavenge" mode, and feature 40 players -- 20 special infected, and five teams of "four." You could have single, larger open maps in a series of "campaigns," but in each map there's no linear progression per se -- you might have the five teams have to work together to complete certain objectives (like going out from a farm into a town to find fuel / supplies, or going to contact a nearby checkpoint, etc). Think of a much larger open-world type thing.
Survivors could like commandeer jeeps and trucks and stuff and you could have new special infected that mess with their equipment -- spitters for example might be able to pop the tires of vehicles with the acid.
WOULD BE SO ASSUM, despite the graphics requirements and lagfest
Cheers, HLF.

that would be a terrible idea, the 20 special infected would just gang up on one single group at a time, thus overwhelming all of them in time. What would be better is to have linked progress games, such that one group of survivors and enemies can monitor progress for other groups.
Essentially, its the same as normal gameplay, except that you now have a race between teams, you would see progress as a little symbol like the cart in TF2.
Anyways, L4D2 sucks as much as L4D1. Spread the Hate!

You could put in mechanisms which prevent that -- like either making algorithms that control the strength of certain infected as their quantity goes up within certain radius (like if you have more than 4 infected in a certain area, their health/ effectiveness goes down proportionately).
Alternatively, you could make it so that no more than 4 infected could spawn within a certain radius of a number of survivors at a time, etc...
There are plenty of ways you could do it to prevent it from being an infected rapefest. Each of those mechanisms would probably create disincentives for the survivors to gang up more than 4 at a time as well, because they would allow the clustering of special infected, and maybe make it more likely for tanks to spawn.
Dun dun dun dun dunnnnn.
The interesting thing, given what I just said, is that you might have certain climax moments on each map that require all the survivors to get together to fend off a big attack or to complete some objective (like putting all the pieces together on an escape van a-la Dawn of the Dead).
Would be pretty crazy, mang.
I should email Gabe.
Cheers, HLF.

After a few rounds, we switched to Dark Carnival and we lost every step of the way, except for one map segment where we got slightly further (the infected were down to 2 players by then though), one where we both teams got to the saferoom, and on the finale, 3 vs 3, everyone died and got the same exact number of points.
Final score was around 2100 to 2500.
Good times, good times, especially the epic tank battles.
Overall, we proably had around 11-12 players, some dropping in and out.
Let's do it again, same time tomorrow!

I'll see if I can make it tomorrow, not sure what I am doing as Friday's tend to be busy for me, but it is a good time of day none-the-less.
If anyone wants to play, specifically Survival or Savange, send me a message on Steam. My user name is RoyalFino. If I am not busy, I'll jump on.
