That excuse doesn't cut it. Joker made appearances in Superman TAS as well!

Here's the complete excuse: I wasn't even born when Mark Hamill started being the joker, and then when I had my superman phase it was like from ages 4-5. I didn't know who Mark Hamill was then because the Star Wars phase came after the Superman phase.

I hope they put Batmobile/Batwing elements somehow. UE3 supports vehicles pretty nicely. Even if the vehicle is AI control I wanna cruise around Gotham in it...but a little unlikely because it seems the new game will be set in an enclosed area as well. Oh well.

That's the thing, as pointed out in this fancy discussion on RPS, Batman:AA was all about making it seem as though the game has a tiny scale, but it's wnderfully polished and adapted to the indoor gameplay, instead of doing what every other game does, slap moar stuff onto it because everyone does it, and try and make it work.

Hey don't let the clowns get to you. I watched the Batman Animated Series when I was a kid and the fact that Mark Hamill voices the Joker was news to me when I read this thread. I guess it's a mark of really good voice acting that I couldn't tell it was him, typically I can recognize a voice within a few seconds of hearing it. I'll never forget the time I impressed my dad by spotting Taj Mahal in an AHH! Real Monsters! episode.

Still, that's pretty awesome that Hamill has been doing that for so long.

Also, it's ******* awesome that there's going to be a sequel to BM:AA.

I hope this time PC dosn't get delayed for a month so we can get moving paper and steam that caused most copies to but out making it unplayable with PhysX on, till 2 weeks after it came out due to a Crappy Patch via Microsoft Game Network with the PhysX maps.

Its a really cool discussion, thanks for the link. As for slapping more stuff on it and suffer from sequel-itis (bigger everything), its not necessarily a bad syndrome. Look at God of War 2, Gears 2 and Uncharted 2. They turned out brilliant, yet each did exactly the same thing as its predecessor only in a bigger, grander and epic-er way. Sure, Batman:AA is the first game. I'm willing to bet shiny nickels that AA2 will definitely suffer from sequel-itis, but the only problem is they cannot make environments expanded and less linear without changing the game dramatically. Hence, having batwing/batmobile sections would be pretty cool for a change of pace. Also, I hope he gets a new arsenal too. Keep the zip line and the regular batarangs, but get rid of explosive gels and sonic batarangs :D

I like sonic batarangs and explosive gel but it would probably be better if they made things more context sensitive. We all know what I mean by this so screw describing it.

Arkham City info:

Quote

Sharp took credit for getting the Joker situation of the first game under control. He then used that incident to help win the Mayoral election. After winning, he declares Blackgate and Arkham unfit, and buys off a portion of the slums of Gotham. Walling off the area and calling it "Arkham City", he contracts a mercenary group called Tyger into defending the walls. The prisoners are only given one rule: "Don't try to escape", with the penalty for doing so being death. Beyond that, they can do whatever they want within.

-Hugo Strange heads the new Arkham, though it seems like this fact is cloaked in mystery to the outside world. Those who look into him disappear.

-It's been a year. Two face is admitted into Arkham City and he realizes he has to make a move to assert himself in the new prison lest he be eaten alive (not literally, of course). He captures Catwoman, figuring a public execution should do the trick.

-The team is aiming for a highly detailed city, on the level of what they did in the first game with Arkham itself.

-Gadgets can now be used during fights- the article mentions Batman putting explosive gel on the back of one of his opponents during a brawl.

-You can now pull off multiple counterattacks at the same time.

-Many of the super villains have formed gangs, and taken control of different portions of the city.

-The team wants to push the "forensics" angle of the first game more, incorporating puzzles in them that will become more complex as the game goes on.

-Most of the key gadgets that were unlocked late in the first game are available by default (Beyond the explosive gel, the article also mentions the line launcher).

-Interrogations replace the Riddler maps of the first game.

-Batman can now taunt his enemies via a button press.

-Certain characters have optional sidestories within Arkham city (the article mentions Zsasz), that you can dig into.

-Harley has a new costume. From the article: "Instead of a nurse outfit, Harley now wears red and black pants, and a matching midriff-baring top. Her face paint has been scaled back to a much more subtle degree, and she now has a Joker tatoo on one of her hips peeking out over her waistband."

-Batman's been given a new gadget called the "broadcast analyzer". The article mentions several broadcasts Bats can listen in on, like the GCPD dispatch and Gotham FM. The main usage here has Batman tuning in to listen to a message left for him by the Joker.

-Oracle is missing, so Alfred is the one in Bruce's ear (at least at the beginning of the game).

-Rocksteady wouldn't detail their multiplayer plans.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

I hope they get Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. to play Alfred again.

*EDIT*

I've moved your post to here, edited first post, and changed topic title.

SO pumped for this game. I wish it was coming out this year, but I can wait.

Still need to go back and play the first on the harder difficulty.

I just started doing that a couple of weeks ago and it's a lot more difficult. I didn't realize how much I relied on the Spidey-sense-like attack notification.
