Hey folks,

I'm finally looking to get a laptop for myself. Would make things easier if I don't feel like jumping on my desktop all the time, and just can use the wireless in my place.

I don't need anything super fancy, but want a quick machine for sure. Probably will not game on it but hey, you never know.

I saw this one on Newegg. What do you guys think? Probably don't want to spend any more than $1500 (including tax).

Thanks guys!

The one you posted looks pretty good. I saw some laptops posted on gizmodo last week that were priced the same as the one you want, but with a better video card. If you're looking for a laptop to just turn on and use anywhere, I think any Macbook would do you well. I've used Vaios and am now currently on a Macbook pro, it works great for just using on a daily basis. It doesn't have the petty annoyances of Windows, and connecting to wifi and printers is a breeze. Good luck on your laptop purchase!

Thanks for the feedback. Do you know of any models that are good? I'm not really into Mac's at all and need Windows for my job anyways.

My friend has something like this
I think the specs are similar though it wasn't the same laptop, so far he has no problems with it. I think his only gripe is that it doesn't have enough space, so he adds an external. Oh, and he doesn't like the audio too much, but I haven't heard it personally.

That's a sexy looking laptop! Thanks man! I may just have to personalize one to see what the final cost will be.

^ I'm not a big fan of the touchpad. It feels cramped and less responsive to me than the Vaio.

christ, I wanted info about laptops too but there's no way I'm spending more on one than I spent on my desktop (which was $900)

Really? I'm not familiar with Vaio's. Are they that much better than Dell's?

Well you can get cheaper ones, but then again, this is a Dell (and Asus). Still have not decided yet.

I'm skeptical of all Dells. I would recommend a Mac but I know most people on this site would disagree and specs of the <$1500 Macs fail compared to the PCs everyone posted.

i had previously a dell 17" laptop. It was pretty nice, sturdy, easy to tare appart to clean/inspect. quality is excellent. Has never let me down. Its been 5 years since i bought it and it works like a charm.

At that time, I had a 750 dollar discount coupon which made the purchase soo much more delicious.

Now i have an asus which was cheaper with a beefier card than dell had at that time. From comparison, Dell has made a bigger effort to balance the machine for appearance, comfort, weight & quality.

I'm biased because I had a Dell that crashed the day the warranty expired.

Trooper, I just recently bought an Acer G-Series (G72 to be exact) and I'm pretty much in love with it.
