HLF is nearly dead, I know that the new site is comming up, but that doesn't solve the current issue of new visitors. People are not comming to this site because HL is out of eyes of most gamers, EP3 is no where to be found and if history tells us, it may be 2-3 more years to see it.

HL2 problem is that it doesn't have the longevity of its predecessor, its a great game (suicide_mission shudders), but the modding community hasn't been as explosive as it was with hl1 when it came out which has really contributed to its greatness more than anything. Theres nothing valvish to talk about anymore (until a release date is announced).

5 and half years is more than anyone can talk about one specific set of games, all the children here have grown up and moved on...

So what does our new Overlord have in plan that will guarantee success? (e.g. bring back 13-18 year olds)

Its time to empty those coffers, and spend money on getting interviews and exclusive content. Also, what the hell happened to our modding community?

valve just doesn't have the tools to make high quality polished mods. You could have awesome games out, but they would all look like hl1 blocky crap.

Now you have to do HDR, make reasonable maps that take ages, and deal with the fact that there are better engines and tools on other platforms.

These threads are so pathetic. Really they literally are. Members won't come just because they see how badly you crave for new ones. What're you going to do? Treat every single new member as the best thing that has ever happened to us? HLF isn't dead if you don't regard it as such. Stop the heresy and start writing Half-life (Ep3) fanfics.

We've been more active, but we are far from being dead.

There are still mods being made for it. You just have to accept it's harder to work on than the original engine. It takes more time and effort which is why a lot of mods fail (as well as setting the standard to high).

A good look at ModDB shows there are plenty of mod half-life 2 mods of varying quality.

Well jumping down the throat of anybody new that posts probably doesn't help. Granted, some of them deserve it, but some end up turning out alright.

Exclusive content, and refocusing the site onto a more general Valve/Steam oriented theme would probably help.

Yes, but even before that we will need a definite world-exclusive scoop. An interview with Chet, Doug or even the Gabe himself will work wonders.

Make a hack which automatically sets hlfallout as their homepage.

I would go back to what originally attracted people to this website; Gabe Newell and a new Half-Life game.

In all seriousness probably episode 3..... so nothing....... Why not orient ourselves with L4D a bit more? Or contact Valve and get some support from them.
