So the mysterious tablet is now with us... the iPad, what do you all think about it?

For me I think this might be the one Apple product I can't really justify myself getting, I have a laptop and iPhone and a iMac... so I don't have any reason to need one. Though I must admit it looks pretty cool, I was definitely expecting more. Check out the video about it here.

I feel sorry for all the people who are suckered into buying this. It's an enlarged iTouch.....

I can't believe people got so hyped up with years of rumours over this piece of crap.

At first I was like "LAME, its a giant Iphone" and the name sucks. After reading into the device I found the pad to be much more then a blown up touch.

- 30$ a month for unlimited 3g
- 10 hour use, one month standby
- dockable keyboard and mouse
- Fully functional iWorks
- Backwards compatible iPhone apps
- HD capable, designed for gaming
- New E-reader service

From a average Joe's standpoint, this things a waste of money. Why would I pay 700$ for a large iPhone that cant make calls and cant see flash? wtf is this junk.

From a business standpoint, this things not bad. 700$, its small, stylish, 10 hours battery life, always connected. I wouldn't mind working on this.

Apart from having the dumbest name in gadget history it doesn't seem all that bad. Sure it lacks flash, but HTML5 should fix that eventually. Its a shame this thing wont run OSX programs without being re-written. This fact alone will probably be its downfall, especially since people were expecting the "apple tablet" to be a full fledged laptop replacement. Would I buy it? Not until its jailbroken.

Apple Fanboy logic.

Just release the inner 'tard City and be done with it. You're pathetic.

It's fast, stylish, and easy to use. I don't have any use for it though, so I can't see myself owning one anytime soon. I was thinking they should have added an iSight camera and support for a wireless keyboard too, so I was disappointed there.

To me some of those features seem like its something they are saving for version 2

Chances of me ever seeing anyone actually using one in person?

Just like the Macbook Air : Extremely small.

In my opinion at least anyway. Any average potential customer won't be able to justify this purchase if they have either a netbook, iPhone or laptop. The portable market is too crowded at the moment, the idea that tablets are for people who want to "consume" media instead of create it will be happy with no keyboard, doesn't wash with me. It's a simple fact that to use the internet, you need to use a keyboard. Added to which, in my opinion, any portable device that doesn't fit in my pocket and is supposed to be some sort of computer, I expect to have a proper OS which lets me install anything on it, not a mobile phone OS which only lets me install apps which the company that made the device has approved of.

While I'm sure it's very snazzy, I also don't buy Jobs' saying it's "the best web experience ever". Would I find writing this post as straight forward on the iPad without a real keyboard as I am on my desktop right now? Of course not.

I just don't think tablets fill a need in the market.

Meh. it looks nice, but in all it doesn't look like something revolutionary.

City, you'll fold eventually. But if seems like the between what you got that device is nothing more than a novelty.

Yeah I totally agree, I might actually be able to resist getting this since my iPhone treats me fine and it doesn't do that much more.

I'm pretty sure the iPad still doesn't support flash on its browser from what I heard.
Which instantly doesn't make it the best web experience ever...

I have been waiting for Apple's tablet for so long since I love touch-screens and tech-evolution. But I'm not totally sold, even though it does seem to be a pretty cool gadget. Having the possibility to do easy reading/listening to music, surfing etc. is pretty awesome - but I was kind of hoping it would be a laptop with a keyboard that you could slide behind the screen, basically a MacBook Air tablet. Now THAT would have been pretty awesome.

That's what Apple is SO good at (probably best in the business): Adding and removing small things that makes the next version SLIGHTLY, yet enough, better and more appealing. I hate them for that, but from a business POV it's by the text-book.
