anh right, I never use any services like that, the iPod music is fine for me.

I would, but I change what I want to listen to too much for it. Plus I need all of that space for the 300 apps that I have and 2000 pics. Personally I think the icons are too spread out on the iPad, the screen is big enough and icons small enough to have five columns.

I am really a brain in a jar.

I like it. But I can't see buying one, not unless my Laptop dies. Then I could possibly see one in my future.

Probably because not everyone has a book set of Encyclopedia Britannica just lying around, and also it can be a bit pricey. Also not everyone can afford the trip to different universities and libraries around the world just to look through all the research papers, journals, articles, etc. the plane ticket, the hotel stay, etc. you know that adds up and everything. And this becomes even more of a headache if you are running on a tight schedule.

With that, many turn to the power of the internet. Sources like Encyclopedia - Britannica Online Encyclopedia and Wikipedia provide us with easy access to the information. PubMed is really popular among the science and medical students. And just by looking through Google, you will discover that there is so much information on the internet, a lot of which you would normally not have such easy access to.

Haha, sorry, I'll cut the bs here.

[More long rambling bullshit]

Yes, med students use netbooks to write their papers right? If you were gonna write a long paper, I doubt you'd rely on such a tiny screen. I'm not arguing that multitasking is useless. I'm saying that on a netbook, it's unrealistic that you would need to multitask too much.

Wut? You purposefully misinterpret my argument and then proceed to calling me stupid, what is this, the internet?

I didn't say tablet computers should be able to do all of this at once, but at least being able to run two apps at the same time would be less ridiculous.

Tablet computers and the iPad are different in my mind. The iPad is catered to bringing a simple and stylish experience to people that want just that. Remember, there are a ton of people out there that only use their iPhones to play music while playing some apps or browsing the web, while occasionally getting a call or an SMS. The iPad is meant to make this desired use easier and more enjoyable. My problem with people lies here. People misinterpret the iPad as some sort of wunderdevice. No, it's not. It's just supposed to let people dick around with the interweb while listening to music. And maybe play pong occassionally.

And once again, don't get me wrong. I don't like the iPad. I just hate it when people skip to conclusions without putting much thought into it. If I were to get a tablet, it would be the modbook.

While I wasn't a med student I wrote my thesis on my netbook. I wrote it, listened to music, surfed the web and read the library's online books/research papers at the same time.

I don't know where Dark Knight is getting that people don't use netbooks in college. I use one. I did Matlab work on it last semester when I was in Engineering, sure it wasn't super quick but I don't have the attention span of a gnat and this wonderful thing called patience so it didn't bother me. Several of my friends use netbooks when they would rather not go to the computing lab or bring their larger laptops to the library or study session. And a quick glance around the A&M library will find more than a few netbooks in use.

Unless you have incredibly bad eyesight or don't know how to adjust resolutions then a netbook has a plenty big screen. I've done every bit of my college work on mine from day one and its been a blessing to have this easily portable computer with a pretty good 6 hour battery life on hand when I need it. And hell I'm even using the cheapest Eee PC that ASUS has to offer. I could imagine how nice it would be to have one of the more robust models.

I look at the Ipad and see the biggest waste of $700 that has yet to touch down this decade. Where as this netbook has been the best $300 investment I've made in the last 5 years.

There's simply no way to justify the purchase of an iPad. Simple as that.

As the launch day approaches for the wifi iPad, I'm tempted to camp out my Best Buy and either auction off a ticket or ebay it.
