I just saw this commercial for FMA: Brotherhood and it is about to premier on Adult Swim at midnight this coming Saturday. I'm very interested in hearing how the English voice actors will be able to pull it off. It seems the same voice actor will be dubbing for Edward, but I noticed that Al was completely silent during the 30 second promo.

I know this show was touched upon briefly in the video thread or maybe it was the recent views thread, but I wanted to open a discussion for those (like me) who have been already watching the Japanese subtitle versions that Funimation has put out, as well as those who are fans of the original Anime.

For those interested in watching the Japanese versions, you can find them right here: http://www4.funimati...page=show&b=280

Do you think this is going to flop considerably and be taken off the air soon like most of the Anime on AS seems to be or do you think it will succeed? I personally find it a much more interesting experience than the first one. The story line is much darker and far more intriguing. Then again, I find most of the Anime that is put on American television to absolutely suck and I find myself enjoying only 1 or 2 Animes these days.

FYI AS doesn't show anime 5 days a week anymore because they simply don't have enough of it. They learned pretty fast that burning through these quck 20 to 40 episode series in a month is bad for business. So they adopted the weekend only model and suddenly a series like Code Geass that has 40 something episodes lasts for 5 months instead of a single month.

But on topic I enjoyed the first series and enjoyed the jap sub of this. But I am a fan of the English dub so I am eager to see this. Also pretty sure Al is now dubbed by a female VA since his original voice actor is 18 or 19 now. So it is entirely possible Al will sound terrrrrrrreible.

I've been following the subbed series as it comes out and have really been enjoying it. I watched the first series too, but I think this one is a dramatic improvement. I've never been too keen on dubs though, barring the rare series in which they're superior to the original (Cowboy Bebop comes to mind).

That makes sense, Orb. I remember being 13 and them showing unedited DBZ and Wing episodes constantly month after month after month. Haha

I really enjoy Brotherhood. The pacing seems much better, especially with how certain characters are revealed, die and flow in and out of the picture. I'm sort of hoping this Anime makes a splash, because I am really sick of crappy shows like Bleach being a big hit.

Eh Bleach is ok. Drones on for a bit to long and there really is only about 2 good Arcs. If nothing else the OVAs are entertaining. Kinda bummed that thus far the best things they've shown have been FMA, Big O, Cowboy Bebop, and Code Geass. Every now and again they run something totally ****ing weird like S-Cry-ed and that turns out to be neat but it is soooooooo short.

See, I didn't care for Big O (except for when it first came out and I was 14), Code Geass, or S-Cry-ed.

Even Eureka 7 wasn't that great in my opinion. I ended up watching the full series though because I really enjoyed the theme regardless of how it was portrayed. I'm something of a tough critic though and if a show doesn't do a good job of making me suspend my belief, then I can't enjoy it.

Only reason I enjoyed Big O was because it was basically Batman: Robot Edition. Code Geass was more or less the thinking mans Gundam and S-Cry-ed was just weird.

I like the original anime but this time it's going to follow the manga which is phenomenal, comparatively speaking. The first run followed the manga for the first 18-19 episodes so and ended up catching up with the manga so instead of resorting to fillers like many other anime's they decided to take the story on their own tangent. The manga is just about to finish it's run and it's getting good. You should check it out. http://www.onemanga....etal_Alchemist/

The truth is more frightening, nobody is in control. The world is rudderless."

Has anyone been following both the manga and the subs are they're released? How closely does the anime follow?

The MANGA was used as the storyboards for the anime. So very closely I'd say :P.

I've followed all of them. This anime is following the manga pretty much to the "T". The previous one, just plain old "Full Metal Alchemist" only followed the manga to the 18-19th episode. This one is going to follow the manga all the way thru since it's very near to it's end. I've been watching this anime for over 5-6 months now. It's released every Sunday in japan and by thursday a fansub group has the episode translated and available for download.

I've been watching the Eclipse versions, haven't tried other groups since Eclipse's are pretty good. Is there a better group or should I stick with what I got?
