Nintendo 3DS Discussion

Essentially the DS2, unlike the revision versions seen in the Lite, DSi, and DSiXL, the 3DS will be the next major release for the DS brand platform.
Details are scarce, but what we do know is that it uses some sort of 3D technology without the need for glasses, is backwards compatable with DS and DSi software, and will be release before March 2011.
No other information has been given except that it will be revealed at E3 2010. No details on the 3D tech either, though I suspect the 3D dispay might be something like this;

Ooh, nice one Nintendo.
Can't wait for actual games to be made for it.
Too bad the DS hardware is so fractioned, so most games are made to be so called... "retro"-compatible between all the iterations of the DS.
I'm definitely getting this when I inevitably destroy my current DSlite.
On second thought...couldn't this be achieved with current DSi hardware and new software?

The video I posted is DSi hardware/software.
But yeah, if it uses the same method then it could be. But developer rumblings from GDC seemed to imply that the next DS (being this) was closer to the visual tech of the GameCube, so its that in a higher resolution + more detail.
Assuming its perspective 3D. It might be something else entirely.

Meh, yet another DS to wait for. Just when I felt like getting a DS.
This is probably the mother of all DS, 3d without glasses & backwards compatibility with DS/DSi.
The 3D feature is going to make me wait for this.

Never bothered to pick up a DSi, still sticking with my DS Lite.
I hate that they surgically removed the GBA port. =(

I destroyed my 1st DS lite, my 2nd one is fine (for now), and I got a DSi for my bro last Xmas.
I've played on all different models, and tbh, I still wub my DSlite. the DSi has better feeling buttons, and I doubt anyone really uses the GBA port anymore (I just use ROMs if I want to play GBA), but also a lot of gimmicky and useless functions, a higher pricepoint, lots of gimmicky and useless functions, and a negligibly bigger screen, oh and most of all, shorter battery life.
This 3DS could bring something new to the table, but it'll have to prove it 1st, I won't be buying it on day one, or even year one.

There's been some murmering as to this system, particuarly at GDC and a couple of Japanese news sources. Collectively, the rumors state;
- Two screens on two different panels, like the DS, only constructed in a way that they 'join' almost seemlessly at the middle, unlike the big chunky bar on the DS.
- Higher resolution screens, roughly GameCube equivilant system power and similar programming environment.
- Analogue stick control.
- Possible title/gyroscope function.
