Alrighty everyone, in my attempt to get ready for Quakecon, I'm going to build a new rig. I mostly need suggestions on a motherboard, cpu cooling, RAM and PSU.
So far what I have (or am going to order)
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition CPU
ATI Radeon HD 5750 Graphic Card
Thermaltake Element
Velociraptor 300GB
As for the CPU and GPU, reason I'm going with those is because I can get both wicked cheap through AMD/ATI. I don't know which brands are best for PSU or motherboards. Is there anything I need to really look for in a motherboard at the moment or brands to avoid? Any other suggestions on the build so far?
Any help would kindly appreciated!

GIGABYTE has motherboards with Ultra Durable technology, with higher quality components and construction than usual. I have one.
As for PSUs, silentpcreview's reviews are worth seeing.

Thank you, I'll take a look at the PSU reviews and Gigabyte has a couple of motherboards with USB3 on Newegg so I'll definitely take a look into them.

Right on! If you register(whenever that will be...) and go, let me know. Have you overclocked yours any? If so, I may go with that brand for a fan.

I haven't OC'd mine yet but I actually got a Artic Cooling heatsink, ended up going with a Cooler Master PSU though and it's great. I also ended up going with a Gigabyte motherboard. For anyone else interested in the build, here's the final tally. So far so good with gaming, I can actually play BFBC2 on high settings.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
VisionTek Radeon HD 5750 1GB
Thermaltake Element G VL10001W2Z
Crucial Ballistix 4GB
Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro 700W
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro
LG DVD Burner
All in all, here's everything. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
