Outages
#1 Posted 04 August 2010 - 12:01 AM
Since our host had a major outage with its hosts last week we are having constant problems with our site, it looks like their crash might have affected our data integrity. We have been repairing the database and also looking to move to a new host.
Sorry for the inconvenience, its really annoying from our end too.

HLFallout has joined a new startup gaming network, in the network there is wow-achievements (Official Blizzard fan site), shadowpriest.com (largest wow class specific forum), codnation.net (call or duty forum) and now us.
The main guy behind the network is 'kFc'.
He's a great guy and will introduce himself soon, we are both working together to improve the site and community, it will certainly be for the best. I know we've been in a network before and the extra support will be greatly beneficial.
I'm sure you'll agree, that we wouldn't want any dramatic changes and this if something the network agrees with to. Otherwise, we can happily get the crowbars out.
Any quessies please ask.
Cheers,
Mutley.

Let me introduce myself to everyone. We are a community orientated network, all our sites have that in common. They have a very distinct and strong following. We want to ensure we maintain and work with the community and grow with you. We will help by maintaining the infrastructure and all the logistics behind the running of the website so the community can concentrate on doing what they enjoy, posting and interacting socially.
Mutley will be the community manager and we don't intend to make any other staff changes. Some of you spotted 2 admins myself and mrbluggle. We were just checking out the site to see what we had in store for us. Great to spot us. That's what makes a good community!
So what do we have in store:
- Well really the direction will come from you. I noticed we have a whole heap of content still to be ported across so we will help by getting it in a state so you can add the content easily.
- If we get any goodies from developers or publishers we will pass that on. For example we got press tickets from Blizzard to Blizzcon and we passed that directly to the community, in codnation we got demo headsets and some pc hardware which we passed to the community again!.
- I would love to get in touch with the valve developers and see if we can get a bit of recognition and press from them but I will leave that up to you for suggestions.
- Before we put anything up we will let you know. We are in the process of setting up a dev instance of this site to help with that.
Please let us know anything else.
Again hi to everyone, hopefully you can put those crow bars down!
kFc
We also have social game site sand news sites like gofanboy.com in our community which is growing daily. With gofanboy we are looking to ad pc and fps games to the list of things that the writers talk about so if anyone is into writing do let us know if your interested in helping out.
