My joystick broke ages ago and these games simply aren't as good without one. Can't justify buying another one as I don't play flight/space sims much.

Awesome games though. :8

they dont, apparently there isnt much or anything out there to convert your mouse/keyboard into a joystick (which is funny since there are a handfull of joystick to mouse/keyboard) Im looking into a solution, stay tuned...

EDIT: found a potential solution:

PPJoy

You need to setup your windows in testing mode to allow unsigned drivers to work, otherwise win7 will complain about it. (your ok in xp) there is a simple command:

run cmd as administrator (right click on cmd)
type 'BCDEDIT -SET TESTSIGNING ON'
restart your machine (should have a test mode text on the botom right of the screen if it worked)
run the installer,
run the ppjoy configuration program in control panel > add a joystick
run mouse joystick to enable the mouse to control the joystick.

EDIT: I suggest fiddling with the gains, the mouse does not reset to zero, you have to move it around to the zero point. i was able to get into a dog fight with an A-wing & millenium falcon clone. I was owned when using the tie interceptor but owned them both using the tie defendor.

Thanks a bunch, Sui.

Rather than having to type stuff in the command console, you can just try installing PPjoy and click "yes restart in test mode". Because really, the 1980s were fun and all, but lazy people of the 21st century really can't be asked to write stuff with a keyboard.

X-wing alliance works with PPjoy.
