Yeah, and Steam is so much better, having to be online everytime I want to play a game. Talk about stones and glass houses.

You can use Offline mode.

Gaming is a sad state of affairs these days. Especially with things like these.

The 9th Circuit is the most overturned in the U.S., so I wouldn't be surprised if that ruling is overruled.

Since when do you have to be online all the time ?

I can play all my steam games offline, the only ones I cant are those with extra DRM  (ahem, windows live), or those with multiplayer components, which by definition, cant be played without an internets connection.

EEEEEEverytime. J/k.

But no seriously there are times I'm on the road and wanna get a quick game of Defcon or something in and offline mode just does not work for me.

Not to mention that I still can't play ****in L4D for some reason or the other.

Offline mode in Steam is really buggy.

It's funny how everyone gets angry when someone badmouths Steam, completely ignoring the monopoly Valve holds in the PC platform and how bad this is.

I miss the days of CD checks.

It's not so bad considering how vastly superior Steam is to any other service

I wonder if PS3 will get a rerelease of TF2, made by Valve.

It'd be better if your games weren't tied to your account.

uh, isn't that sort of the whole point of steam? so if say, you computer dies, you can redownload all your games for free.
how would you have it? i think steam is just epic as it is right now.

I meant just logging into your account, downloading the install file, and not needing to have Steam running to play them.

Steam is part DRM, part awesome.
Personally, I think the good far outweighs the bad. And you can't really blame Valve for having a techical monopoly, blame everyone else for not being able to do better.

this is true, I'm glad valve did it first, because every other drm I've tried has been utter shite

QFT!

There's plenty of other digital download sources out there, so it's not even a real monopoly. Can't blame them for being the most successful.

Also the matter being discussed was about Valve not being able to offer the Xbox crowd the seem as the PC crowd. Not the need to be on-line all the time.
