If the items in TF2 were made out of enriched uranium, they would have attained critical mass and destroyed the planet long ago.
Fortunately for us, they're only made out of polygons and pixellated murder, so we can keep piling them up and enjoying merry consequence-free virtual manslaughter.

The latest addition to the party is weaponry from Rift, for people who preorder this new MMORPG on Steam within the month of February 2011.

What do you mean by that? If you are talking about the new Mann Co market place and how you can just buy items now rather than playing the game and earning them....then yes, I completely agree with you. It's really stupid. I remember when you would see a rare hat and think it was so exciting and everyone would try to trade for it. But now who cares, you can just buy it.

That being said, I still enjoy playing the game. I just don't participate in all this buying stuff nonsense

I love all the new weapons. I think Valve have balanced a vast majority of them exceptionally well, and I see people owning the scores with all kinds of equipment.

Thankfully stuff like this are usually just model replacements and not unique in stats.

They have done a good job with the pros cons on the new weapons. For example I read the description for the Brass Beast and it sounded like it would be stupidly over powered. So naturally I crafted it immediately afterwards. Then as it turns out the hidden con is the fact that past 10 feet the spread is about 200 feet in diameter so you might as well not even pull the trigger on someone that is not almost touching the barrel. But when they are, muwahahahaahaahaha. Also, bear claws attached to my hands because **** you thats why.

How was valve suppose to pay for all the improvements and add ons?

The fact that everything was free (and still free mind you) is mind boggling. This has been rare or impossible with any other games we have seen, adjust value here or there, its new content for ALL of us (I mean for PC gamers, the real type of gamers if you ask me) and can keep it up near indefinitely, If you think about it, this is a good way to keep funding development & support.

The mann market and all of this "extra" crap is a small neucence for a game, that to be honest, has given alot for such little money. (~15 dollars if you had obtained the orange box, and since you are a member here, then probably did). How much money have you dumped into Wow? nuf said...

The MannCo Store is just Valve capitalising on microtransactions that would have happened anyway. Any game that involves loot of any kind, and also allows trading, has people selling shit on eBay. Its unavoidable. All Valve did is acknowledge this inevitability and capitalise on it.

At least the people who made stuff for the community packs are getting some money back.

Yes, they invented it to capitalize on trading, which they invented.

Its like they invented the razorblade handle and they are now capitalizing on the razorblades because they acknowledged this inevitability...

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with trading and loot though. Its mostly all pretty well balanced, and outside of hats its easy to aquire all the weaponry. There was no reason to hold back implimenting trades/loot.

Nope, not at at all, but Valve controls the system, and im sure they fudged around with the rate of drops to make purchasing more enticing for those who arent glued 1 to 2 hours a day in tf2, crates anyone?
